Anyone besides Troy heard of this?

I've not done any research, but word-of-mouth has informed me that it is beta, and "Darkfall is a yet to be released MMO based in the si/fi world of Agon, with the worlds biggest game play area ever created it would take 10hours+ to run from one side of the map to the other unobstructed. This new MMO has it all, player housing, full loot pvp system, city creation, over 1000 usable skills, mounted combat, full real time combat, ship creation, siege warfare, every piece of armor and every weapon is craft-able."

Post stuff about this game here, and not in that UO thread.

Everything you said.

With one big problem.

The game has been in development for 7 years, it's supposedly in the final stages of it's closed beta.

In fact, with posted game release the 22nd, less than two weeks away.

The big problem, is that there have been practically NO leaks, of anything. Nor has the greek company given ANY information. besides what they orignally gave us. The best thing I have seen was the beta tester testimonials, which I assume aren't made up.  I'm actually kind of impressed that 500-1000 people are testing this in closed beta and we don't know shit about the game yet.

I remain EXTREMELY hopeful, but can't help but feel like something is wrong, somewhere.

< Here is a Leak >

Worth reading each of the 7 parts to get a feel for the game.

The view is killin' me. . . .  It sounds like it's like playing UO in TPR view (however he was doing that).

They are ensuring that you have NO feel for your surroundings and that attacking someone who's already fighting is something you simply don't pass up on.

Hatin' the view.

Yeah, not really liking it either.

But it didn't make me hate Shadowbane.

And when he starts talking about magic, and crafting, and stuff like that I get this tingly feeling in the back of my brain.

Even deeper, though, can one harvest the resources out in the wild that are required for crafting?  That is the element that makes the economy,,, interesting.  Got to protect your resource gatherers from bad guys.

Was that a rhetorical question?

Check out the beta leak part on crafting. You can chop down trees, fish up reagents, and mine multiple kinds of ore from mountains. I know there is herbology skill too, kind of like picking up random black pearls off the ground like UO used to be.

Maybe i just read what you wrote wrong.

No, I was asking if there was resource gathering.

Basically it sounds like they are recreating UO with a new graphical interface.

W\ the same PvP rules?  C'mon.  PKing is still viewed as digital rape by some folk.

SOme said "unrestricted PVP/looting."  Not sure if that had conditions or not.  Even in UO cities had the "guard zones," which I find to be acceptable, unless one had declared an official state of war, as in guild war/factions.

Heres the deal from I've gathered so far, I'll just do the down and dirty.

Big ass game world. 6 different races.

Two (evil) orks and dogmen

Three (good) classic humans, elves, dwarves

One (Super evil) Dark Elves

Races have variable attributes, humans have 20 in everything, everyone else is split up based on the type (dwarves more strength, elves more magiky)

Full pvp/loot, full crafting.

There are guilds/clans, and about 90 places in the world you can drop a "town" stone. Some better than others, with a town stone you can build a city. There are 4 large NPC cities of each race, the cities have a guard system, and there are varying degrees of neutral cities, and a large Bucs Den type area.

If you kill a fellow race, and aligned side, your karma thingy gets hit, while an opposite race actually gives you a boost. It's like a 5/1 ratio, -10 for killing friendlies +2 for hostiles. You start at +10. and if you drop below 0 you go red, just like in UO, with basically the same consequences.

I've been reading leaks all weekend, ask me more questions if you got em.

I was playing Warhammer tonight with it's first person view.  I'm fighting bad guys and stuff.  At one point, I park myself on top of a rock to do some ranged DPS.  I spin my view to put my enemies in the line of fire and BAM, my view is 100% blocked by the leaves in the tree that if FUCKING BEHIND ME.

I
FUCKING
HATE
THIRD
PERSON

This could be solved by making things that are behind you invisible.
This could be fixed by not shoving the camera up your ass when you are in a dungeon.  Make the walls see through.

There are ways to make 3rd person playable.  They didn't impliment them in Warhammer.

Besides not letting you look behind you (how real!!), I hope they do better with the camera.

Word on the street is the release date got pushed back to Feb. 25th.  The word "vaporware" has been bandied about more than once.

Apparently, this thing had one of the shittiest launches in MMOG history.  Its most vocal proponents seem batshit insane, too.

< Somewhat humourous if you remember the original update Lum's mocking >.  I'm betting a few of you might.  Fuck knows I do.

Did anyone ever play this?  It's on sale on Steam right now.
