I haven't played much Civ4 at all. I just got used to Civ3, and 4 seems unnecessarily different. I especially dislike the religions.

Yeah, I initially hated 3 as well. I was too used to 2. But then I learned it and played the shit out of it.Which makes me wonder if I didn't give 4 a fair shake. But there's the religious influence bullshit, and somebody decided it was important to make the units in this turn based game fully 3d with animations during battle. Completely unnecessary and adds zero to game play. BTW, did you know that in order to not appear to make one religion superior to another, they all have the exact same characteristics in the game engine? I used to play the hell out of the first Civ game, but never tried any of the others. I guess it's about time I moved on to Civ II.
