I'm surprised that this is all that's been said about this game.

Anyway, Stranger fired it up and got to level 14.  My wife and I jumped in with a level 17 and level 12 character.  I was level 12 and my quests were all fucked up because they were ahead of me.  There was one point where I had to back track and find/run some quests while they continued without me.  At this point, our progress in the main quest is on track, but we all have different side quests with me having the fewest.  It doesn't matter to me that much because I have another game that is way ahead of this one.  So I've seen the side quests already anyway.

This game is a ton of fun.  But it's more fun with other people, I think.  Crank up the difficulty level for even more fun.  We were playing on normal and it was REALLY easy.  There were some monsters that had really high hit points, so they took a while to kill, but were not challenging.  Was just a matter of standing there and chopping on them while hitting the occasional health potion.

I would propose an official run through where we all started the game over with new characters.  This will allow us to get in synch with quests and stuff and run as a big group.  I THINK you can have up to 6 players.

However, be warned.  There is a TON fuck of loot in the game.  Which means some people will be comparing hammers trying to squeeze out that last 5% of damage.  I would propose those people put loot in their town chests for fine tooth comb examination after the evening's adventuring is done.  I assure you that having that last 5% of health is not mission critical and can wait until later to be enjoyed.  So, the game can move forward at a reasonable pace, and uber looters can play weapon dress up for hours and hours after the night's adventuring has been completed ensuring that the next night of gaming is done with the maximum of efficiency.

It's on sale again for $5 on Steam.  It is also a free weekend.  Those that don't have it should play it this weekend, see how cool it is and how dumb you have been for not buying it, then buy it before the sale ends.

Not picking on him, but Gordo is the guy who is most consistently online and gaming in our group. That's why games like this are going to be difficult to work into any rotation.

Torchlight is a loot fest. There are chests and other treasure containers EVERYWHERE in game. Combine that with the fact that the items are just "Damage = X", but instead have about 2 dozen different stats, I'd say playing this with us would be near impossible for him.
