I'm used to Aliens games sucking, except for the mild fun we had with AvP. However, this game looks very, very promising.

Not sure if this is the same one you posted, but this one currently works.

< Mainstream hype, and it's a "direct sequel to Aliens"!!! >

Gearbox made Borderlands. This seems like a sure thing.

Wow.

One of the PA guys points out that he's been reading tons of negative reviews on Aliens this morning, then he stumbled upon a glowing review:

Note the advertisement that makes up the background of the story...

Bias? In MY gaming industry? I'm floored.

< Gearbox released multiple updates today. >

Too late.

At what point are gaming companies actually going to figure out this whole social media thing, and the internet, and realize they can't release shit, and patch it later?

You must release quality products from the start or the world will know before they ever reach the store to buy your game.

I have a dollar that says the accountants forced a premature release... date.

Why wait to push it now instead of Christmas?  The big February gaming rush?

There's a point when developing a game starts to cut into the projected profit. That's when games get rushed.

I'm seeing video on the web today of Aliens standing around as you shoot them or not responding to your presence at all.

That's an unfinished game.

Poor sad derpy aliens ...

holy shit

Saw that clip earlier today.  Hilarious.  Reminds me of what Daikatana actually looked like.  Not exactly in the expectations it brought (though Gearbox + Aliens had some hope and potential), but the final product that was released to a public market.

< Teh saga of teh suck >.

I don't know. I feel like this game probably matches the level of effort and quality that's gone into the films post-Aliens.

This is easiest one of the worst managed franchises in Hollywood/gaming.

They're just so ... sad.  It's like all the Aliens were struck with severe PTSD and are now almost completely lost in their own misery.

< Here come the sue-age. >.  I hereby coin the term "sue-age."
Posted by GORDON on May 02 2013,09:09
Well, if they advertised rendered cut scenes and said it was actual gameplay, then yeah, they deserve to be sued.
