heheh What other players have said about our game play has NEVER affected us. We play to win. They play for 'respect' or something. I recently read about other changes they made. Slowing horses down, and other stuff. I don't remember all of it. I also saw that it was quickly removed. Not because it was a bad decision, but because it didn't work. They don't strive to be pre-uor, like they say they do. They try to make it 'better'. Server admins need to put down their ego, and make the server pre-uor. Pre-uor was the best. And that's it. I so wish they would stop trying to make it 'better'. It only makes it different, at best.I would never go back to Metro because: 1. They consistantly make changes that I don't agree with. They feel it makes the game better, but it only changes it and makes it their way. I want to play pre-uor. Not their way. 2. Their choice of staff. From Zen down to Darwin. They hate us, and aren't afraid to tell the world. Normally, that wouldn't bother me. However, they are in positions of great power. So, I have to watch what I say. I have no doubt they would mess with my game play in order to entertain themselves. I liked Decker. He stayed out of the politics and just tried to make a good server. Model admin, he was. 3. Their board of advisors. I don't know if that is still active, but when it was. . . . Man oh man, was it crazy. We called it the brain trust. People that played UO one way, and one way only. They would lobby to have changes made to improve their style of game play, and ussually got them. It was bad enough that the admins were making bad choices. Then to try to justify their choices by going over them with the brain trust they created. Oh boy. I shudder at the thought. Metro, for the admins, is more about boosting their own ego by trying to create a server that is 'better than pre-uor', than it is about getting it right. They were HUGE for a few months when everyone thought they were going to be pre-uor. They were taking their time getting there, then the lag/server issues hit. People didn't come back. Metro has creeped along at about 120 clients on for many many months. The ONLY time they see an increase in population is when another server goes down and the population tries Metro. They eventually move on and the peak levels back out at the 120 level. Hey, maybe that won't happen this time. But, I'd bet it does. . . They haven't done anything in the last 2.5 years to make that server better. Zen made his 'professional' looking website that he's REALLY REALLY proud of. But, that's about it. Thank you very much for the invitation and for finding us entertaining. But, we won't be back to Metro. Now, if someone actually created a pre-uor server, you can believe we'd be there, with all the hundereds, if not thousands of other people that are patiently waiting for that server to appear. I won't play any server again where the admins pander to the players like they'll do anything to be popular. Then the idiot players kiss the admin's asses like the sycophants they are, which feeds the admins' egos, and it's a feedback loop. Posted by TPRJones on Jan. 03 2006,07:58
So ... it's like UO High School?

Wasn't this type of situation what caused the downfall of UO in the first place? The developers were screwing the RPGer chicks and they started nerfing everything as a favor... Posted by Malcolm on Jan. 04 2006,10:31
UO wasn't truly dead till Dick Garriot was given the ol' heave-ho by OSI/EA. Posted by GORDON on Jan. 04 2006,10:32
IIRC, he was fighting the Trammal stuff and OSI pulled the "well we really own in all anyway so BYE."
