< Learn to fly >I played it twice (once for 4 turns to see how the controls worked, then once for real). Finished it in 23 "days" Fun game. (added to the index as well) Posted by TPRJones on Jun. 16 2009,18:58
Fun game. I can't get past 3500 feet. Posted by TheCatt on Jun. 17 2009,06:03
I played again last night and did it in 20 days.

Blocked by my work's network filter. Wtf? Fucking network Nazis.

I did it...33 days, but now that I've got the trick of it I can probably do better. I didn't figure out the most efficient flight method until day 33. Posted by TheCatt on Jun. 17 2009,10:12
So what do you think the most efficient flight method is? I've been trying to keep the speed roughly constant, and as close to the red as possible.

OK, I tried again:3-distance and time bonus,2-2-1 4-10',timebonus,4-3-1 Got it down to 17 days.... was able to win on maxed out equipment, but not maxed out stats Posted by TPRJones on Jun. 17 2009,13:25
Down to 29.Still nowhere near as good as you, Catt. It seems the most efficient way to do it is to ride that 0% resistance edge most of the way, occasionally trading some speed for altitude as needed, and topping it off with rockets until they go dry. For a long time I was going for the early-and-often power bounces off the water, until I finally noticed how much those hurt your speed. Posted by TheCatt on Jun. 17 2009,13:51
Something that worked really well for distance was using the rocket at only a slight incline, but staying as close to max speed as possible. Then coasting at that level for as far as possible. Got a lot furhter than my nomal "rocket up at 45% incline" approach I had been using.

Yeah, I notice is all about shallow angles. Just enough down to have 0% drag, then just enough up to have no more than about 5% drag while you gain altitude. Crank up the drag much more than that and the altitude payoff isn't enough to be worth the loss in speed.I found my best results when I was staying below about 60ft altitude at the high point of the curve. Posted by TheCatt on Jun. 17 2009,14:44
I think my best results have been around 30% drag.

Day 20Everything maxed out and way too much extra money. I had full stats and equipment by day 15, but for some reason couldn't get to the 6000 mark. Well, probably because I'm not very good at the flying part. It pays to skip levels on purchases as much as possible. Posted by TheCatt on Jun. 17 2009,17:59
I just tried skipping levels on purchases, as I noticed that it's not cumulative (meaning: going directly from 1 to 4 is much cheaper than buying each level).... and got it in level 20. although, i wasn't really paying much attention cuz my daughter was around.Day 15 would have been the best I've heard of. Posted by TPRJones on Jun. 17 2009,18:58
I was skipping 5 and 6 levels at a go on stats. I also skipped the second rocket. Many days I didn't buy anything so I could better skip more.Oh, except the first couple of days. After day 1 you have to take something if you want to get an achievement for cash. |
