This looks like it has the sort of traction to become a national story. I just became aware of it via an openly gay FB friend. At first I didn't understand the condemnation by the LGBT community. I mean, there's nothing on the surface that's offensive. Sure, someone could argue that using Caitlyn Jenner's transition as a joke is wrong, but is it really? Don't straight white men, in particular, get mocked for their...well, everything...in every form of media on a daily basis? Don't we need to laugh at things to fully accept them? (That's a whole other issue though.) I realized it's offensive when I read that Schaffer is a born again Christian who is very outspoken against LGBT folks and their rights. Now the outrage makes sense to me. Yeah, you can't bash a lifestyle, then use it to advertise for your show. This would be like Donald Sterling putting on black face in ads for the Clippers.
