Looks like his charity's manager was.
Posted by Leisher on Jul. 07 2015,08:56
But why are they searching his house two months later? The FBI has now said they're doing a criminal investigation...

Did his charity manager admit Jared's involvement? Did he stash stuff at Jared's house? Did he commit crimes there? Did he falsely accuse Jared?

The interesting thing will be to see how Subway responds. Jared's picture is in every Subway on the planet. It's on the damn menus. Do they respond immediately or do they wait until charges are filed?

It took Trump a few hours to be fired from NBC for making a dumb generalization. Let's see how quickly being investigated for child porn gets someone fired.

Maybe.  Could be any of them.  If he hid some files, I could see that, especially without J knowing.

Trump's mouth got him fired.  The Dugger kid had some police reports and incidents on record.  So far, Jared's just known a dude into kiddie porn.

Roman Polanski raped an underage girl and got a standing ovation at the Oscars.

I'm just pointing out that watching how these "scandals" unfold is interesting.

I don't think Jared is part of the protected class.  If it turns out he campaigned for Obama and supports transgendered sushi chefs, he'll be fine.  Otherwise maybe not.

I was almost getting halfway to sympathy for this dude, then I got reminded of this:
QUOTE
Subway's ad agency originally discovered Jared when he was featured in a 1999 Men's Health story called "Stupid Diets That Work," after he lost 245 pounds eating nothing but two meals a day at Subway for a year.

He could've eaten two meals at a day at the local Applebee's/Houlihan's/TGIFriday's if he watched his fucking calories.

I'm gonna wait for the trial. There was a guy here in town that I had mutual friends with. He was arrested for (allegedly) being in a porn video with a minor. He got a ton of shit thrown at him on facebook. Turns out: whoops, not him.
Posted by Vince on Jul. 08 2015,07:57
Reading now that it's not him but someone that worked for his fatty fat kids foundation that was into the kiddy porn.  So far seems to be an ongoing extension of that investigation and not directed at Jared.

The Feds should have done a MUCH better job of advertising that before they destroyed his livelihood.

Not their problem.  Just ask them.
Posted by TPRJones on Jul. 08 2015,11:18
It's entirely likely they have nothing on him at all and this was all something they threatened to do if he didn't tell them what they wanted to know about the other guy.  It wouldn't matter if he had anything to tell or not, they'd still follow through and make everyone think Jared was into kiddie porn as well.  That's how they operate.

By the book, man.  Of course, when that becomes synonymous with "being a dick," you should take a long, hard look at your career choice.

< Perhaps the FBI is investigating him? >

It mostly talks about the woman referenced in Malcolm's link, but then goes into them having her wear a wire.

What I find interesting is that she's making these claims and his lawyer is denying them, yet someone it's being printed as news (which equals fact in people's minds). How is that ethical? Until the feds charge him, it's he said, she said and all that's being done is destroying a man who may or may not be innocent.

(Your link is broken Malcolm.)

QUOTE
The FBI has subpoenaed an affidavit containing alleged texts between former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle and a former female Subway franchisee in which Fogle says he paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl, according to the former franchisee’s attorney.

Seems pretty damning, but...

QUOTE
The age of consent in Indiana, where Fogle is resides, is 16 years old.

Not sure where the franchisee lives.

That does cloud things though. If he had sex with a 16 year old in Indiana, then he really didn't break any laws, and BY LAW the only thing "gross" about it is people's perception that it's gross.

Based on his texts implying about going younger, it'd suck if he got off on a technicality. Is this a guy who wants to do worse, but stops himself at his state's age limit so he can't be sent to jail?

In other news, Subway isn't coming out of this looking great:

QUOTE
The woman reported the communications to Subway, her attorney says. Subway determined that no violations occurred, however, due to the fact that Fogle was not an employee of Subway — even though he was hired to do marketing for the brand.

The woman also contacted Subway’s corporate office regarding the issue and she requested that Subway allow her to remove all marketing related to Fogle from her store, according to the lawyer.

She met with two levels of management, shared the messages with them, “and specifically requested not to have his imagery and merchandising related to him in her stores,” the lawyer said. “She also specifically warned them that he should not be interacting with young people.”

Subway continued to use Fogle in national advertising campaigns until the FBI raid on his home earlier this month.

When reached for comment, Subway said, “We have no record of this allegation.”

So dinner and a movie?

Ok, jokes aside, I saw that, but if 16 is the age of consent in that state, it's a prostitution charge, not pedophilia.

And believe me, in no way shape or form am I defending him. I'm simply pointing out that if what we're seeing in this article is true, he clearly has more vile intentions, but will avoid those charges due to the age of consent in that state.

< Cops a plea >

QUOTE
Jared Fogle has copped a plea in his child porn case ... TMZ has confirmed.
The former Subway spokesperson was a target of a federal investigation which included a raid on his home last month, in which several computers were seized ... allegedly containing child porn.
Law enforcement tells us Fogle will plead guilty to possession of child pornography. Charges have not been filed but we're told that will happen at the same time the plea deal is announced.
The plea -- first reported by Fox59 in Indianapolis -- could come as early as Wednesday.
A judge will determine the sentence.

< Details >.
QUOTE
Federal Judge Mark Dinsmore must now review a plea deal Fogle's attorneys reached with prosecutors and decide whether to accept it. Fogle was released and must wear an electronic monitoring device pending his next court appearance.

Under the deal, Fogle would serve between five and 12 years in prison, pay $1.4 million in restitution to 14 minor victims, register as a sex offender and meet other conditions.

< Jared's > "charity" pumped cash into the director's pockets.
QUOTE
The charity was supposed to shell out $2 million a year to schools and community organizations. But the foundation spent an average $73,000 per year from 2009 to 2013, USA Today reported, citing the organization's tax records. Sixty percent of that went to Taylor, and 26 percent is unaccounted for.
...
Twelve of Fogle's 14 victims were minors who Taylor secretly filmed. Taylor then shared the images and videos with Fogle, federal prosecutors said in documents released last week.

< 15 years >.
QUOTE
"For most of my adult life, I've been in the spotlight, trying to be a role model," he said. "...I became dependent on alcohol, pornography and prostitutes."

Shit, those are requirements for being a role model?

QUOTE
"When your honor is considering what is just punishment, we ask that you consider unique consequences Mr. Fogle will suffer the rest of his life," the attorneys said. "The time in prison will be harder for him than for prisoners who committed the exact same offense. ... Mr Fogle has destroyed his life. He did it to himself. ... His punishment is not going to stop when he gets out of prison. Sixty months is enough for him to know he'll never do this again."

QUOTE
DeVooght said Fogle looked at images on a thumb drive three times, including commercial pornography of children as young as 6, and then threw it away. But, the attorney added, Fogle "never requested that level of disgusting material" from Taylor.

He also never alerted the authorities to the kiddie porn passed to him.

QUOTE
Fogle spent a minimum of $12,000 per year on prostitutes, Bradford said.

< Gained 30 pounds and is getting harrassed. >

I do question the validity of this report though.

Fogle is a child molester, which means being segregated from other criminals as they WILL do them harm. Also, he's a celebrity, which also means segregation as someone can make a name for themselves by offing him.

If he gets killed it'll be because the prison didn't protect him protect him properly.

Not that it'd be much of a loss for the human race.

I am bemused by comments about this elsewhere on the internet, because apparently in this situation rape is funny.  It didn't seem very funny when they kept buzzkilling the Oscars to talk about it.

I hate hypocrites.

When I read an AMA about "what it was like in prison," they always say two things:

Federal prisons are run much more professionally than state prisons, which might as well be Thunderdomes, and child molesters always have their own areas... and they all play D&D with each other.

Depends on the prison.

Ideally, if they were doing their job to protect the inmates, then no he would never be in contact with them aside from the others in his wing.

I was surprised to see he's in a low security facility.

So yeah, the inmates would be more likely to mingle.

Larry Levine, a prison consultant who'd spent ten years in a total of 11 federal penitentiaries, says he has a number of clients – who have hired him to guide them through the experience of surviving prison – incarcerated with Fogle who claim he's a constant target for prison ridicule.
...
Levine says that his clients at Englewood Prison tell him Fogle's arrival was preceded by a mandate from the warden: "The word from the administration was, 'Hand's off Jared,'" he says.

But the prisoners have not obeyed, Levine says. "When he got there, I was told prisoners started chanting, ‘F--- Jared,’ and Englewood is a chomo yard: 75 percent of the inmates there are child molesters," says Levine. "Jared is there with a lot of his own kind, and is considered king of the chomos. The other chomos respect him, like he's their God or something."

I was thinking of it as "ko-mo" so didn't make the connection.
