Chelsae Clinton: off limits.Obama daughters: off limits. Bush daughter: butt of jokes. Palin's family: butt of jokes. I'm seeing a trend, here. Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,10:27
She's 24 man. Who cares whose daughter she is. When someone accepts a quarter million to publicly speak to teenagers on the basis that "abstinence is the only true birth control" and then has ANOTHER out of wedlock child, I'd say it's open game to call her a hypocrite.Slut-shaming is not cool, but you can call a spade a spade. She's a massive hypocrite. Posted by Malcolm on Jun. 29 2015,10:27
The Clintons and Obamas didn't and haven't let their daughters get arrested for underage drinking or get knocked up.
Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,10:30
I really don't have any problem with her being sexual active, she and her family are affluent and can provide care for those children. It's the hypocrisy and two-facedness. I'm not going to go searching again, but there are pages and pages of her basically judging and posting online/speaking about other women making similar decisions. Well as long as we can keep piling on the Palins, because they are the only hypocrites in the world, then it's all good. I mean, the uppity bitch actually ran on the ticket as VP against Obama 7 years ago. Can you imagine the nerve? Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,10:34
I don't give a shit whose daughter she is, it's in the quote you just made. For all I care, her name is Bristol Abstinence Advocate. I really disagree with the ideology, it's one of the few things I take a strong stand on and give a shit about. Full and open sex education is super important to me. At this point she's making far more points for proper sex education than the other way. You are the one inserting the rest of the Palin family into this thread. Posted by GORDON on Jun. 29 2015,10:34
The only reason anyone knows her name is because of her family, I don't know how you can separate the two.
Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,10:35
Because children are not their parents, and can make their own decisions?I don't care how she got famous, it's what she does with the notoriety that irks me. Posted by GORDON on Jun. 29 2015,10:36
Well now you lost me.The only reason anyone knows her is because her family got publicly destroyed in the election, and that only happens to one party. That's always bugged me. Posted by Malcolm on Jun. 29 2015,10:38

Sometimes Democrats get their public image destroyed in elections, too. Admittedly it's been awhile since there's been a big one. Dukakis and Hart are the most recent two I can think of.Democrats believe some stupid shit, but unlike some Republicans they can generally keep from looking like a complete retard during elections. Here's what I remember about the 2008 election, VPs, offhand:Palin- -Governor of Alaska - Husband Todd - At one time he worked for some oil refinery - Lots of kids - One had Down's - Lots of people said the Down's baby was actually her underage daughter's and they were covering it up, a rumor that persists - Palin had a $50k wardrobe budget from the republican party for campaigning and debating - Heart made them stop using their song because palin's old nickname was "Sarah Barracuda." - It was often said that she didn't have enough executive experience as Governor of Alaska compared to a community organizer like Barak Obama. - A bunch more things but I haven't thought of it in a long time. Point being, the entire family got blasted by everyone except Fox News. Biden- - His last name was Biden, I think he first name was Joe. - He was a senator or something - No idea if he was married or had kids I did no research on any of them, that is what the media said often enough about them for me to learn through osmosis. I hate hypocrites, too, but I don't see the humor in setting up a dumb, young girl to fail over and over in order to embarrass what I perceive as my political enemies. The hypocrisy is in the denial of it all. And that is how I see it.... I knew the moment she got her own TV show way back when that it was just to air a conservative trainwreck for ratings. I honestly am not passionate about this... it isn't my trigger... but I do have a somewhat functioning memory. ![]() Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,11:04
At some point Bristol needs to stand alone as a person. Without having her mother brought up.Bristol's been far more of a public figure than her mother since the failed VP bid. Dancing with the stars, some other reality show, speaking tours? I understand that you think the treatment of her mother was unfair, and there is truth in that. I do also recall that she also made some rather bone-headed PR moves and statements, which the media seized on. But she needs to be her own person, and not deflect real criticism of her with "only because you don't like my mother." To her credit, she has not done that in the posts and interviews that I have seen. Posted by GORDON on Jun. 29 2015,11:06
I don't disagree with anything you just said. I just happen to think the only reason she remains in the public eye is because of her mother. I think if she ever got her shit together and became successful at something she would suddenly stop being interesting to the media.

If she cured cancer the headline would read Bristol Palin, unwed mother and daughter of GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin cures cancer! Puts Oncologists on food stamps! QUOTE Point being, the entire family got blasted by everyone except Fox News. I saw Palin in the VP debates. She did nothing to help McCain. Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,11:18
Ok, seems like were all generally in agreement about Bristol. I'll get off my sex-ed soapbox. As far Sarah. I feel like I had not heard much about her for a while until early this year. I remember her giving an absolutely bat-shit insane speech - let me look it up. < Yes, wtf was this anyway? > It blipped on my radar at some point, and seemed to reinforce the stereotype. Posted by GORDON on Jun. 29 2015,11:20
I remember when she said she could see Russia from her house, and a lot of people thought she was serious.
Posted by Vince on Jun. 29 2015,11:55
She actually never said that. See said Russia was close enough to Alaska that you could see it from the banks in parts of Alaska. It was Tina Fey as Palin that said she could see it from her house.
Posted by Malcolm on Jun. 29 2015,11:59
< Well... >QUOTE Subsequent investigations demonstrated that Russia is visible from an Alaskan island, Little Diomede, that sits in the center of the Bering Sea, well north of the Aleutian Islands. Of course, later reports said that Palin had never visited the place, but her answer was technically correct, albeit demonstrating the time honored political practice of saying words that loosely are associated with a posed question, but not actually answering it.
Posted by GORDON on Jun. 29 2015,13:21
And wasn't the question in relation to foreign policy challenges in the coming decade, and she was mocked by Obama and the left for citing Russia as a reason for concern?I wonder what the Ukraine thinks of all that. Posted by Vince on Jun. 29 2015,13:38
Obviously she was unqualified because of her hetero normative, white privilege, war on women.
Posted by Troy on Jun. 29 2015,13:47
Ok you guys, but in my last post in this thread, the video of her speaking to like-minded individuals in a public forum of some kind in 2015, she doesn't look qualified to address a shitty high school debate team, much less any amount of the American public. Or to represent us to foreign interest, for that matter.

I don't deny that she wasn't a very good candidate. I also contend that if Obama had been placed under the same level of scrutiny as Palin, then we'd probably be at the end of Hillary's 2nd term right now.

As much as I disagree with his administration and politics, he's a 1,000,000% better public speaker than Palin (either) could ever hope to be. Posted by Vince on Jun. 29 2015,14:24
True, but scrutiny <> listening to a speech. Unfortunately, I think in the mind of many reporters that were covering Obama, that was exactly what they thought it meant.
Posted by Malcolm on Jun. 29 2015,14:47
Fuck the scrutiny. His response to it probably defuses the issue, regardless of content. Palin's responses tend to invite more scrutiny due to the extraordinary level of WTF in them.

Reading about the Hillary emails. She's making Palin look better. Not good, but at least qualified as many in Washington.
