What kind of dipshit uses their real info on a site like that?

< Ashley Madison allegedly > hacked.
QUOTE
For a $19 fee, Ashley Madison users are told they can completely erase their profiles, a feature that can come in handy when covering up activity on dating services for extramarital affairs. However, the hackers claimed that the “full delete” feature doesn’t work in reality.

But remember ... marriage is sacred.  HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

A group or individual known as The Impact Team claimed to be behind the attack and that it had data on all of Ashley Madison's 37 million users and its partner sites, Cougar Life and Established Men, all owned by Canada's Avid Life Media (ALM).

The data showed Ireland ranks tenth in a list of 45 countries that have members. Canada (6.7 per cent), the United States (5.2 per cent) and Australia (5.1 per cent) have the most members per capita, but Ireland is ranked as having the highest number in Europe with the exception of Switzerland (3.9 per cent) and Spain (2.7 per cent).

I have a feeling that they mean 5.2% of the site's profiles are from the U.S.A..

So that was the same thing I thought... until I did some math, and read the article.

QUOTE

A hacked website for married people who want to have an affair has in the region of 115,000 Irish members, according to figures published by the company.

QUOTE
4.595 million (2013)
Republic of Ireland, Population

115000 / 4595000 = 2.5%

QUOTE
However, a graphic called “the global infidelity map”, published on the website’s Twitter account a fortnight ago, outlined its per capita membership in countries around the world. It indicated that 2.5 per cent of the Irish population were members, which equates to approximately 115,000 individuals.

Although, they may mean 2.5 per cent of adults, not all people, which would lower the absolute # from 115k, but wouldn't change the %age.

But really, 5.2% of US adults are on the site?  Seriously?  That's insane.

Posted by Malcolm on Jul. 21 2015,15:24
It says "most members per capita."  I don't see any mentions of age.
QUOTE
...has a worldwide membership of almost 38m.

Even if that's 5% of their users having a US profile, you're talking 1.9M.  Granted that 5% of the total US population would be a better profit line, but any way the numbers get cut, infidelity = jingles.

Some 189,810 Ashley Madison users were registered in Ottawa, a city with a population of about 883,000. Those numbers make the capital the website’s No. 1 Canadian hub — and potentially the highest per capita globally.

But let's face it.  Even if I were there, I'd've figured out some way to hide it, right?

< Josh Duggar admits he was there. >
QUOTE
Amid reports that former reality star Josh Duggar had an account with a service that helps people cheat on their spouses, the 27-year-old responded, saying "I have been the biggest hypocrite ever."

On his family's official website, Duggar wrote about what he calls an addiction to porn, following reports on Wednesday that he had an Ashley Madison account.

"While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife," he wrote. "I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him."

On Thursday, the Pentagon announced it was looking into the more than 13,000 email addresses with military domains that appeared on the website.
More than 15,000 of the email addresses contain government suffixes, including military ones. It is not clear how many of the accounts are real.
The Associated Press reported Thursday that hundreds of government employees with jobs at the White House, Congress and more than two dozen agencies used Internet connections in the federal offices to access the site.
One Justice Department investigator told the AP he was “doing some things I shouldn’t have been doing.”

I hope nobody is dumb enough to pay. The info is already out there for anyone to see for free. Paying a blackmailer does NOTHING to ensure your secret doesn't get discovered. Plus, who's to stop the blackmailer from asking for more money later?

Speaking directly to the hackers, Superintendent Evans said that Monday’s news conference was “your wake-up call,” and that law enforcement organizations around the world were working together to stop hackers from engaging in “reckless and illegal activity.” The United States Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are involved in the investigation.

“You just got to understand people, the social impact behind this leak,” he said. “We’re talking about families, we’re talking about their children, we’re talking about their wives, we’re talking about their male partners. That’s going to have impacts on their lives, we now have hate crimes that are a result of this.”

HAHAHAHAHAHA.  The DHS, the dudes that fail most airport security tests, and the FBI, the dudes that are having trouble finding qualified IT agents, are all over this.

It's also hilarious how this guy seems to be defending the cheaters.  Wonder what their spouses think about that.

You're using politeness as an argument?  Fucking wow.  That notwithstanding, they're trying to even the score for these folks like this...
QUOTE
Well-known conservative personalities were caught in the breach as well. Sam Rader, a religious YouTube user who operates a successful video blog with his wife, Nia, was found to have an account.

“She has forgiven me for this mistake that I made in opening the account,” Mr. Rader said of his wife over the weekend. “I have sought forgiveness from God and he has forgiven me, so I have been completely cleansed of this sin.”

I'm finding it hard to have any sympathy for any registered user on either website.
