< Tazed and dropped on his head on concrete >.QUOTE In a statement Monday asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate the matter, the family said it was "because of significant inconsistencies between public statements made by the Independence Police Department and information made available to the family in the form of statements of eyewitnesses and video and audio footage of the occurrence."

Is this the one where it is the kid of a cop from a different town?

Except that the family has stressed that he's not being treated for any head injuries. Link title bias much?

(Cakedaddy @ Sep. 17 2014,12:35) QUOTE Except that the family has stressed that he's not being treated for any head injuries. Link title bias much? I'll hold off until the docs examine him. Good to see that "non-lethal" weaponry that doesn't always work anyway can still land people in critical condition. Posted by Cakedaddy on Sep. 17 2014,12:03
You didn't hold off though. You went right to "Cop dropped him on his head". Even though the family is saying "He's not being treated for head injuries". Link of "Tazer stops heart of teen" would have been more appropriate. Because that's what happened and that's what he's being treated for. You focused on one unsubstantiated claim that has evidence, from the family, to the contrary.I wonder how differently all this would be playing out if that kid didn't hang with a crowd that would have outstanding warrants on them and if he didn't play the "Fuck you my dad's a cop so fuck you" card. QUOTE Witnesses told police they saw the officer drop Masters on the concrete, causing him to hit his head. When the docs come out and say no head injuries, I'll believe them. Until then, I'm 50/50. Even if that's bullshit, they still cause a cardiac incident. Protect and serve. Unless the cops don't like you, then fuck you. Posted by TPRJones on Sep. 17 2014,12:36
While it's still up in the air at this point, the phraseQUOTE ...is being treated for a lack of oxygen to the brain... is not a good sign. Dropped on head is irrelevant, it's the brain damage from the oxygen deprivation that will be the real problem. Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 17 2014,12:52

One wonders if the administrative leave the cop was placed on includes pay. Posted by Cakedaddy on Sep. 17 2014,15:25
I kind of figured the family would know what their son was being treated for. But, maybe I'm wrong. They are maybe making shit up or covering for the other cop. Cause, you know, they stick together.
Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 17 2014,15:32
Maybe the cops told the family to shut the hell up. Cause, you know, cops never intimidate the people they're supposed to protect.

Like other cops? Ummmmm. Ok. And I laughed at your level of paranoia.

Good thing they stun-gunned that kid who looks like he'd be 100lbs soaking wet.
Posted by Cakedaddy on Sep. 17 2014,17:19
Was he supposed to beat him about the head with his stick?Kid is driving a car owned by someone with a warrant out for him, and we automatically assume the cop is wrong here? When someone runs with criminals, I kind of have to wonder about them. I could totally picture him acting like a big enough ass twat that a good zap would have done him good. (Cakedaddy @ Sep. 17 2014,20:19) QUOTE When someone runs with criminals, Assume much? Posted by Cakedaddy on Sep. 17 2014,19:08
Not any more than assuming the cop is a thug trying to kill an innocent 17 year old, I don't think.

(Cakedaddy @ Sep. 17 2014,18:13) QUOTE Like other cops? Ummmmm. Ok. And I laughed at your level of paranoia. Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're wrong. Like my friend that got the shit kicked out of him by a couple cops when he took offense to being hassled for walking around late at night. I'm sure that was my imagination though. Except for the corroboration from the guy he was with and the bruises and black eyes. Paranoia. Nothing more. Posted by Vince on Sep. 18 2014,03:18
(TheCatt @ Sep. 17 2014,18:44) QUOTE Good thing they stun-gunned that kid who looks like he'd be 100lbs soaking wet. I thought that when I first saw the story as well, but then I remembered Trayvon and thought it better to wait on this one before I commit myself one way or the other. Posted by GORDON on Sep. 18 2014,06:05
No one is assuming anything, a cop put a child in the hospital and people have an opinion about that. When I read the story the day before this thread was started it said the electric window was broken, this pissed off the cop, so the kid got pulled out of the car, tased, and then fell and slammed his head on the concrete which put him in the hospital. Are you sure you still want to hang out here, Cakedaddy? You are now running with a criminal, after all. Might be sufficient cause to get you into some trouble. ![]() Posted by TheCatt on Sep. 18 2014,07:45
Technically, I'm guessing everyone here is a criminal.
Posted by TPRJones on Sep. 18 2014,09:08
Well, that's true. Under the current mess of laws anyone that uses the internet commits at least four felonies every day, after all. But I was thinking more of how Malcolm is now an "official" criminal, like with a record and stuff. Posted by Malcolm on Sep. 18 2014,09:38
I know at least a couple folks who've done a month or more in jail. We're obviously the core thing that's wrong with society because there are no more thefts, rapes, or murders to deal with anymore.
