Whoa, that one got popular.  I was viewer 56.

It was certainly better than their past few videos.

Is it that cheesy family again? I'll just assume they were loving and happy and channeling "the sound of music"... and skip it.
Posted by GORDON on Aug. 22 2014,09:43
Ouch, too white for Troy.

I may have been born in cracker-town U.S.A.

But I don't live there anymore!

Tosh took notice.

I've come to understand here at the Tosh.0 blog we make fun of shit like this...however I can't bring myself to, and the reason being is because AT LEAST these parents are doing something with their kids.

That is unfortunately a rare thing nowadays.

P.S. I'd bang that mom so hard she'd be sore for a year.

I love how reasonable that comment starts... and then it's back to the Internet.

I honestly think what you've quoted in completely reasonable.

You would walk up to her, and say that to her in real life?
Posted by Leisher on Aug. 25 2014,16:35
I could, yes. End of the day, she's nobody to me. She lives a thousand miles away, is married with kids, I'm married with kids, and I wouldn't expect to ever have any interaction with her in any way, shape, or form. So could I tell her that I want to fuck her? Under those conditions, who couldn't?

Would I do it if I wasn't dared to? No.

Would I want to say it so crudely? Of course not.

Is that a reasonable thing to be posted on Tosh.0's site, and probably the thought going through the more mature and straight men who watched the video? Yes.

Posted by TheCatt on Aug. 25 2014,17:52
I'm just saying, it's Internet.  And I think you're making my point.

Not a reasonable thing for someone to actually say.

Posted by GORDON on Aug. 25 2014,18:09
Leisher could get away with it.  He's the kind of asshole that women respond to.

Wait. You lost me. When I said this:

I was implying that nothing he or she said was anything other straight men watching the video wouldn't be thinking. I thought my comment was humorous.

You took it to mean I said such a thing would be reasonable to say to the woman in real life?

No, no. I have WAY too much respect for women to suggest someone say that to her face. That's just not me, and never has been.

You might be taking it a bit too personal since you know them.

As I said, I would say it to her if put up to it, but I would never say such a thing on my own. And the only reason I'd do it to her is because, as I pointed out, our paths would never cross again, so it'd be an easy dare to accomplish.

I'm retired now, but her and I both in our 20s? Yes. I could've said it, and slept with her later that day.

Sure, agreed.

Most internet comments are crap, and things people would never say IRL.  But his started out as a reasonable one that someone would say... but then still ended up Internet-commenty.  That's all.

Yeah, that was the punchline. Again, I think since you know them, you might read the comments a bit differently than the rest of us.

Trust me, she knows what people on the internet are saying about her, and while she may never admit it, knowing that guys around the world think she's hot in her 30s after two kids...that's a nice ego boost.

Sexual validation is vastly underrated. Whether it comes from a loved one or hordes of internet commentators.

I think they already got a couple of offers for reality shows, and said no.

< End of year video. >

And as for reality shows:
QUOTE
Included in all those original emails were dozens of inquiries from television production companies who wanted to produce reality shows on our family videos. WHAT?! We really are incredibly boring. Penn and I argue over where we spend money and the fact he can’t get his underwear into the hamper — but we don’t have real table-flipping drama. Recently, one of those companies asked if they could focus on our growing business and the inherent drama during productions. This group wants the show to be uplifting and positive, while showing the natural chaos of deadline-driven work. We trust these people with our story. Stay tuned.

It's been interesting to watch.  This sort of independent consulting and production bunsiness combined with the occasional flash of viral interest is exactly the sort of thing a lot of people seem to be moving into making their livings online doing.  I think there are several elements of this that tie into what will be considered a "normal" way to make a living in the economy of the future once all the traditional jobs are gone.  But this is the first time I've seen an almost stereotypical suburban family doing it; until now it's been mostly young single artist sorts.

QUOTE
For our small business, we were in over our heads. We lost out on some great opportunities because we didn’t have enough people in place to do the work. We quickly needed to hire a team to help handle the workload. This is the point when I wanted to curl up into a ball and wave the white flag. The stress of providing for other families, as well as ours, was (and continues to be) overwhelming.

But it's not all future economy stuff.  Here he's interfacing with the more traditional economy and talks about "hiring" people.  In the new economy he'd more likely be talking about "collaborating" instead, in a relationship where neither party works for the other so much as they both work together and share in the proceeds.  So he's not gone totally new economy yet.

That was her writing, not him.  But yeah, it's interesting seeing them doing this, I give them props.  I couldn't.

Whatever UP tv is?

Up TV (short for "Uplifting Entertainment" and stylized as UP), formerly GMC TV and originally Gospel Music Channel, is an American satellite and cable television network founded originally to have a focus on gospel music and has expanded into family-friendly original movies, series and specials.
