Topic: Texas legal system fails chemistry

< Potential life sentence > for man who baked some edibles.  For reference, Texas recently put on probation a minor that killed three people with a car while drinking underage.  The hitch?
QUOTE
The charges, and possible punishment, are so severe because officers measured the brownies as well as the drugs themselves.

A 1 ounce brownie does not contain 1 ounce of bud, but the state of Texas apparently believes otherwise.  But here's the best bit.

QUOTE
"He was selling his product at $25 a brownie. He was making money off of illicit drugs. This is not some high school kid who was making brownies for personal consumption," [Round Rock Police Commander and all-around asshole Alain] Babin added.

Really?  You think this kid is running some huge underground brownie operation and you cracked the nut?

Looks like Alain is extra retarded because he really, really doesn't understand the concept of dilution.
QUOTE
"When you mix items with a drug and it doesn't change its chemical compound then you weigh the total amount of all the adulterants and diluent," Babin said.

Uh, no.  You're a police commish?  Fucking really?  Again, stupidity this public and indefensible should be grounds for dismissal.  If you order a Jack and Coke, you don't count it all as whiskey.  Go fuck yourself, Alain, and go fuck yourself Round Rock.  Burn in hell.

Yeah, Round Rock is pretty much full of retard.  It's just north of Austin, and full of people that are extremely reactionary towards all the hippies to their south.

Here's hoping for full legalization some day.  Not that these dipshits would find something else to be a retard about.

People at that level are usually more politician than actual cop.

You know how you stop that guy from being retarded?  Don't make and sell brownies with weed in them.  I can't help but think the whole situation could have been avoided by that kid not breaking the law.  Is it his conclusion that it's all weighed, or is it the law that it is all weighed?  Do they think they cracked a brownie ring, or is that your assumption?  Or, are they enforcing the law and busting a guy for doing something that is illegal?  Like, selling drugs.  I read that and see, he wasn't making them for personal consumption.  He was selling them.  So, he was selling drugs.  And that is illegal.  So he's being punished.  As the law says he should be.

You may think the law is retarded.  But why do the people, who are supposed to enforce the laws, have to be seen as retarded?  I just see some police doing their jobs.

How do you feel about a school practicing zero tolerance?

Do you turn yourself in every time you speed?  And again, if you take what the dumb-ass cop said and apply it to booze, then a rum and coke is nothing but rum.  Come the fuck on.  They're applying excessive punishment in an effort to look tough on drugs or they really are just fucking stupid shitfucks.  If you're saying he's in possession of X ounces of some illegal substance, it doesn't fucking mean "that illegal substance and some byproduct."  Shit, why don't they just weigh you?  You're diluting the drugs you're carrying.

Where's your fucking law?  This state is letting out murderers and you're worried about some kid earning extra cash by baking bud brownies?  Let me know when he puts some rat poison in it and kills someone.  If he's selling at $25 a square ... I mean, I can't do the math without some hard numbers but I guaran-goddamn-tee you he ain't making out like a bandit.  This isn't paying his rent unless he does it full time.  There are two types of drug dealers in the world: those who need forklifts and those who don't.  It's not worth bothering with the latter.

If you choose to enforce retarded laws, you are a retard.  Common sense needs to kick the fuck in when you're in a line of work which determines who's walking around alive/free and who's jailed/dead.  I've seen more than one jaywalking trap in my life.  I am 100% convinced the cops working them all had some type of permanent brain damage or pissed off their superiors in a huge way.  It's as if by the book law enforcement requires the entire right half of your brain to be sliced off.

LOL!  Damn democracy and the passage of laws by elected officials!

Are you towing the Man's company line there, V?  Your officials are representing you and your best interests?  What magical district is this?

Well, in this particular case it is clear that this person is either 1) not very bright or 2) intentionally inflating the crime.  Adding a pinch of salt to a pound cake does not mean you now have a pound of salt.  This is pretty straightforward, and is true of all substances regardless of their legality.  Either that cop is stupid or disingenuous.  And since he's from Round Rock, I have to assume the former is far more likely.

It's possible the law is being enforced exactly as written in this case, but then it's the law itself that is either stupid or disingenuous.  Regardless, someone at some level of government is either incompetent or abusing their power.

Nah, I just am not going to complain about a public servant that is actually doing his damn job.  It's not the cops job to determine which laws they get to enforce (Obama and Holder not withstanding).  I have plenty complaints about laws that get passed.  But I'll put the blame for those with the idiots that pass them.

LOL!  I agree with TPR on that.  If you're going to compare the monstrosity of gassing the Jews to laws against selling illegal drugs, there's really not too many directions I can go which that.
