< Are tiny houses a new trend for hippies? >Personal privacy doesn't seem to be an issue to them, but it is to most people. I know I wouldn't want to walk by their house and see them dropping a deuce. Not saying living in a small space doesn't have its perks, but peeps need some alone time too. If everyone lived in these I think you'd see domestic violence numbers soar. (Not a joke.) Also, I don't dig the separate house for their daughter. That's just asking for all sorts of trouble. I was wondering about how people with children would live in those, then saw the separate thing.I think the idea has merit. Our house is certainly a larger house than we really need. It's convenient to have areas for the kids to play upstairs so the downstairs is cleaner, and to have an attic to store crap, but I know we don't need it. On the other hand, our mortgage (not including property taxes) is like $1k, so it's not that expensive either. I think the key thing to their (and most people's) sanity is not having neighbors to share walls, or that you can reach out and grab. Posted by GORDON on May 02 2014,10:56
