Soviets found his teeth in a shallow grave outside the bunker. They miraculously found his dentist's assistant who hadn't fled Berlin yet and he confirmed it. Stalin was obsessed with either making sure Adolf was dead or captured, so he wanted a definitive answer. They didn't share this info with us for a few decades after the fact.

That's the story they held back for many years. That was the report allegedly delivered to Stalin in '45, and he saw Adolf as the enemy of everything communist so he wanted to know for sure. Every living person ever interviewed with any relevant info on the situation, be it German or Russian, said he never left the bunker alive. There's nothing in the story that seems out of place or unbelievable other than the fact you're being asked to take a Soviet WWII report at face value. Given the Nazi High Command proclivity of killing oneself in the face of defeat, I find it all plausible.
