What should happen is that a lot of people working at these banks should be going to prison. What they did amounts to organized crime, and they should be prosecuted by the various AGs in the same way they'd go after a mob family.In actual practice nothing will happen. There will be a handful of lawsuits - most of which the banks will lose - but before it becomes a huge flood or a big class action Congress will pass some law to exempt them from liability and give them immunity from prosecution. I often wonder what line will be crossed that causes the first shot fired, and the chain reaction which will follow.We're pretty much overdue. The only thing that keeps the population docile is TV and air conditioning, as far as I can tell.
