I am just wondering why this is news?

I am seeing it all over the media, and I can't imagine a single person giving a fuck.

Because he's famous.

During this last season, he was the best player on an undefeated team. Also, his grandmother died, and was then followed up with the news that his "girlfriend" died.

Seeing someone go through such heartache, while still bringing it on the field, is depth behind the on field product. It's the perfect story for journalists. It was huge news at the time, and even won the kid some Heisman votes.

Now, as it turns out, the girlfriend was fake. He claims he didn't know. Most people are questioning how into her he could be or how stupid he is, since he claims to have never met her.

Meanwhile, he's going into the next NFL draft, and those people are very big on guys WITH character. At one time Te'o was projected to be a top 5 pick, which would be worth millions in a contract and endorsements.

Now with this news, and combined with his performance in the national championship game (his team got rocked), people are saying he'll drop in the draft, and certainly won't be getting any endorsement deals.

Why do people care?

Notre Dame fans care because it's a black eye for them.

The rest of the sports world cares because they hate Notre Dame.

But really, nobody gives a fuck except the MSM, and they're pissed because they've been had. Thus, expect to see Te'O dragged through the mud until the draft, and then when his stock drops, they'll write article about how he lost millions because he lied to the media.

That whole last paragraph is sadly 100% accurate.
