It sounds like the Google "programming teacher" the link references got in the door as something else, then convinced himself that this techie thing isn't that hard. This is mainly due to companies deluding themselves into thinking any skill besides coding somehow complements and increases your ability to code, and passing that on to their employees. That would actually be kind of funny. Google has a similar interview process when compared to other techie giants like MS. The questions they ask vary a bit, but the thing that is vastly different than MS is their reaction to candidates' responses. Microsoft systematically filters out people who show any sign of individualism or creativity. Google hires, brainwashses, then assimilates them.
