Seeing as how we were just bashing the legal system for its stance on prisoner sex change ops...< Article >. Texan gets 9th DUI, gets 80 years in prison. Is this good or bad? While this isn't exemplary behaviour, let's keep in mind that people who've committed second degree murder have been known to get lighter sentences. After you've made up your mind, read this comment on the article... QUOTE Not certain what the cost of incarceration is in Texas but recent US average is just under 30K. The tax payers of Texas will spend $240,000 in 2012 dollars to lock this jerk up if he lasts 80 years. Now reconsider your previous reaction in light of that info. This is another example of the complete bullshit that permeates the legal system of this country at federal, state, and local levels. Posted by GORDON on Sep. 07 2012,11:32
I would say that it is way overboard, since a DUI is a crime not because someone did some harm, but that supposedly someone is more likely to cause harm. I have a problem with that kind of thing in general.

Executions for repeat offenders? What other crimes are fair game?
