< ESPN pulled his song from MNF. >Why? Because he made an analogy that had Obama as Hitler: QUOTE Williams, unprompted, said of Obama's outing on the links with House Speaker John Boehner: ''It'd be like Hitler playing golf with (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu.'' Let's ignore the fact that he could've easily put Boehner in the "Hitler" role, and I GUARANTEE that nobody would've batted an eye. Williams clarifies his statement: QUOTE ''Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme — but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me — how ludicrous that pairing was. They're polar opposites and it made no sense. They don't see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the president.'' In other words, he might as well have compared Obama to a dog, and Boehner to a cat. The analogy would be the same. It had nothing to do with Hitler's record or methods. He was simply using two figures with opposing ideological viewpoints. He then points out the hypocrisy in the MSM, while bashing politicians on both sides: QUOTE ''Every time the media brings up the tea party it's painted as racist and extremists — but there's never a backlash — no outrage to those comparisons,'' Williams' statement continued. ''Working-class people are hurting — and it doesn't seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job — it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.'' Two thoughts: 1. It irritates me that the MSM is trying to pretend that Williams is some monster or made a huge blunder. Meanwhile, from 2000 to 2008 they did everything in their power to show all the folks who were comparing Bush to Hitler, and not once did they call those people extremists or suggest what they were saying was wrong. 2. While the MSM is trying to get you up in arms about Williams putting Obama is a Hitler role in an analogy they are completely ignoring the rest of his very valid and excellent points. Those points he makes are exactly what the MSM should be focused on, but instead that just want to push sensational headlines. Posted by TPRJones on Oct. 04 2011,08:24
What he should have said is "No, I compared Obama to Netanyahu. It's the reporters who assumed he was like Hitler."

Right, I can't see that he actually compared Obama to Hitler, rather that he compared the relationship between Obama and boehner to that of a hypothetical Hitler / Netanyahu.

Didn't approximately half the members of the United States government, on cue, flat-out call the Tea Partiers to terrorists, a few months ago?

I can't believe ANYBODY would EVER compare the President of the United States of America to Hitler. I mean...come on. That would NEVER happen.

QUOTE Right, I can't see that he actually compared Obama to Hitler, rather that he compared the relationship between Obama and boehner to that of a hypothetical Hitler / Netanyahu. I thought the same thing, but then there's this: QUOTE Anchor Gretchen Carlson later said to him, ''You used the name of one of the most hated people in all of the world to describe, I think, the president.'' Williams replied, ''Well, that is true. But I'm telling you like it is.' Still, I think his intent was to compare their relationship. |
