< Weidman calls out Belfor for cheating right before their fight tomorrow. >

Look at those lab results. How the fuck is this fight still sanctioned? It's clear he's cheating.

Rousey is the most fun to watch, but I think Weidman is the best man in the UFC. He's the one that stopped Anderson Silva when nobody else could. Then when everyone called it a fluke, he did it again. Now he's calling folks out publicly for cheating.

In a year when it seems like half the UFC is getting suspended or arrested, they should be showcasing him.

FYI: Weidman stopped Belfort in the first round.

< Kimbo Slice ready to get his ass kicked >.
QUOTE
In the years since, Slice has turned to boxing and is 7-0 against unheralded competition. Now five years later, he is returning to mixed martial arts for the first time. On Friday in St. Louis, he will fight Ken Shamrock in the Bellator promotion on Spike TV.

Kimbo Slice has 10 years of youth on Shamrock, who's 51.

Kimbo's record: 4-2
Ken's record: 28-15

I DVRed that thing and watched it when I got back to town. What an embarrassment.

Ken Shamrock is 51 and looked it.

You put either of these guys in with guys in their prime and both would be destroyed.

By the way, the Bellator guys come to the ring down a ramp with theme music WWE style. I thought that was interesting.

QUOTE
I was extremely criticized and judged by lack of respect due to a bad interpretation of the current champ. All that time I saw the real face of the current champ trying to pose as a saint while she always said publicly that she wanted to make me “have a meeting with Jesus” which was her true intention. The media never gave that much coverage. I’d never would fight anyone with the intention to kill, break their neck which is something there’s no return from. I wouldn’t joke about it, because wanting to kill someone is not caring about the pain their family would feel!

No you wouldn't say anything like that in the heat of the moment because you have class, right? It's far more mature and nice to tell someone "don't commit suicide like your father did".

Bethe Correia = cunt.

< Rousey is not going to be fighting for a lot longer. >

Sounds like this woman knows what she's doing. If she retires in 3-4 years with that undefeated record she'll be able to open doors and write checks using her "legend" status.

Posted by Leisher on Nov. 14 2015,21:57
Did anyone watch the Rousey-Holm fight?

How did she lose? Holm is a boxer with very little mat skills. All Rhonda had to do was slip in and take her down.

How the fuck did she end up getting knocked out in the second?

Dude at ESPN is implying the game plan from Rousey's camp was complete shit. Like they prepped her for the wrong fight.

Someone on ESPN already did that last night.

If Rousey decides to come back, and not just retire, she'll tap Holm in the first round. Assuming she fires her trainer, which I think will happen once everyone points out what a terrible game plan he created.

Knew that. The problem is that she's a boxer without stopping power. Yes, she's won by KOs, but they've all been late in the fights. She does not do well on the ground.

All Rhonda had to do was get her to the ground. Every shot I've seen of the fight is her standing toe to toe WITH A BOXER.

Like I said, the immediate reaction from the MMA world is "What the fuck was the game plan?"

At least when Tyson lost he had a good excuse. He was out drinking and boozing constantly before the fight because he didn't take his opponent seriously. Rhonda took Holm seriously, but had a terrible plan to fight her. Not sure if it was a pride thing "Let's beat her at her own game", but it was dumb.

Unless this was the greatest fix of all time...

I doubt it.  Unless she really, really wanted to go out on top.  But why?  The only boxing strategy the average fan remembers is "rope-a-dope" and the W is what gets recorded.

QUOTE

I'm oscillating back and forth between this and the simple explanation of a pro having a shitty night.

Posted by Leisher on Nov. 16 2015,10:39
She might be a bit too full of pride, which is why I don't dismiss the "beat her at her own game thing". She's absolutely a fighter and I could see her trying to do something someone has told her she can't do.

Meanwhile, her mind has been out of fighting. Prior to the fight she tweeted she was taking time off after this fight. She's got lots of movie offers. She wants to go work for the WWE like Lesnar. Her personal life has been a distraction, including the days before the fight. Etc.

She's already tweeted that she'll be back, and Dana White has to be thrilled because the rematch will sell a ton, but if she does return I look for her to fight less than 5 more times before she quits for movies and pro wrestling.

And if she annihilates Holm in the rematch she can simply say, "I messed up last time. We had a terrible plan of trying to fight her on my feet. Not sure what we were thinking, but we've corrected it. If she wants a rematch, she'll get it, but I think that'll be my last fight, then I'll go have fake fights for more money."

I remember hearing her on a podcast (maybe Joe Rogan's) and she said that her time in the UFC is limited. She said it was all about time. I think she said that she had about 25 minutes worth of professional fight time, so she might do another ten minutes or so before moving on to better things.
She didn't like taking punishment in the ring, and saw MMA as stepping stone for her career.

I think she'll have two (maybe three) more fights.
There is too much money on the table to pass up a rematch with Holly Holm.
Holly Holm's people are going to put a stipulation in the rematches contract that if Holms loses she gets another shot at Rousey within a year.

I assume Rowsey wins the rematch, maybe she fights a straw man in between, then she fights Holms again as her last fight.

Did you see former pro wrestler Taz grabbed headlines today by declaring the fight an obvious fix.

He was pointing out all the evidence in her recent interviews about wanting to take time off. He doesn't know who all knew, but he theorizes that she went into that fight wanting to lose.

I'd say he's batshit crazy if that game plan wasn't so unbelievably bad. It was the equivalent of getting into a gun fight and standing up and walking calmly towards your enemy with your gun at your side instead of taking cover in a firing position.

Posted by Malcolm on Nov. 17 2015,13:56
Evidence he might be onto something:

1) As has been pointed out, the planning was worse than piss poor.

Not saying I endorse suicide, but I understand how she arrived at that feeling.

She's human and insanely competitive. She carries a lot of weight on her shoulders and when she failed, she felt like she failed everyone rooting for her, counting on her, doing business with her, and who believed in her.

Actually admitting it publicly could even save a life.

The first loss is always the biggest, and in her case is took a lot of wind out of her brand's sails.

Ask Tyson what one loss does to a person.

Ask Tyson what one loss does to a person.

I chalk that up more to his manager dying.  That dude was supposedly the only person keeping Mike's head together.  Soon as he died, Mike's life went to shit outside then ring, and he fired his trainer.  Rousey's got a bit more sense than that and doesn't appear to need a 24-7 babysitter.

Posted by Leisher on Feb. 16 2016,20:23
Gus Demotta?

That absolutely sent Tyson down the wrong path, but he didn't lose until years later. And once he lost, it was over. He won again, but he lost more often.
