Just curious.

Define "dinosaur" before I vote.
Posted by thibodeaux on Oct. 28 2008,16:19
Look it up.

I like 80's music, which makes me a dinosaur. T. Rex is possibly the direct ancestor of turkeys, which sort of makes them dinosaurs. A Celeocanth is an ancient fish that was once thought extinct, but then it isn't, which sort of makes it a living dinosaur. Or do you mean do I think there is a brontosaurus living in a valley in the Congo? Posted by thibodeaux on Oct. 28 2008,16:43
What are you, some kind of Obamaweasel lawyer? It's a simple yes or no question.
Posted by TheCatt on Oct. 28 2008,17:37
Trick question, they never existed.
Posted by TPRJones on Oct. 28 2008,18:45
I voted yes, but I'd like to take it back. I agree with Gordon, it's an indeterminate question as phrased. There are lots of ancient life forms still in existance in modern times. If you limit it to ancient reptiles, then my yes vote will stand. Posted by Troy on Oct. 28 2008,20:13
I voted Yes early today. Then I found out my grandma's power went out, and she left my father 10 voice messages while he was on a client visit to come to her house tonight to "work magic" on the lil mystery box you and I call an Alarm clock. Apparently when you turn 80, if the alarm clock doesn't go off at 5 in the morning you'll do horrible things, like.... sleep till 6. I now wish to vote, No. Posted by Mommy Dearest on Oct. 28 2008,21:28
YES I am therefore.......................................nevermind
Posted by Malcolm on Oct. 28 2008,21:38
Or is the entire point of this to find out what the hell most folk consider dinosaurs?

There needs to be a maybe/probably. I'll not be participating in this bourgeois vote.

Until someone can prove to me that a Jurassic (Sp) Park thing is impossible then I consider nothing extinct.
Posted by TheCatt on Oct. 29 2008,06:42
I voted no.

While it's not technically impossible, it's so incredibly unlikely that it may as well be nil. Even if you're lucky enough to get your hands on some dinosaur DNA, the chances that you can tweek it enough to breed a new one are astronomical. Posted by GORDON on Oct. 29 2008,10:49

Hey, you wanna give me real funding, no gov't interference, & free reign to do whatever research I want, I'll find a way to make transdimensional travel at least a 50/50 shot & come up w\ a unified field theory. With the way science is researched in this country right now, we ain't getting no dinos. Posted by TheCatt on Nov. 17 2008,07:38
So is there an answer to this? I put no cuz of birds.
Posted by Leisher on Nov. 17 2008,08:23
I went with no because the question is too vague. Am I worried about a T-Rex running around my neighborhood? No. However, there is a lot of other stuff running around that had direct contact with T-Rexs. Posted by Alhazad on Nov. 17 2008,10:17
Pretty sure this was an experiment to see how much we expect to be mislead by vague questions.

Seeing who knew the giant lizards of 6,000 years ago became the birds of today, or what?(I am making fun of the creationist so-called-theory, there, before anyone thinks I actually think that) Posted by Alhazad on Nov. 17 2008,16:38
Birds are dinosaurs in the same sense that elephants are wooly mammoths and humans are chimpanzees, in the same sense that GORDO is Mommy Dearest. They're not. They're birds. Posted by Paul on Nov. 20 2008,05:18
Coincidentally, my daughter watched "Between the Lions" on PBS this morning and they had a long bit about how birds were dinosaurs.
