< Analysis >.QUOTE On the Democratic side, both Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders used mostly positive language early on, according to Petralia's analysis. Though in the Feb. 11 debate – which fell shortly after primaries actually got underway – sentiments went a little bit south.
Among the Republican candidates, Ted Cruz, Rubio and the now departed Jeb Bush were mostly positive, while Chris Christie, who dropped out of the race after the New Hampshire primary, sometimes delved relatively deeply into the negative. Donald Trump was by far the most negative candidate, dipping to even 13 percent in one debate, meaning only 13 percent of the phrases he used were positive. Posted by TheCatt on Feb. 23 2016,12:27

(Leisher @ Feb. 26 2016,13:32) QUOTE < Raven Symone is moving to Canada "if a Republican gets nominated". > I think that speaks for itself. I find this worse: QUOTE While insisting that she didn’t agree with that opinion, Candace Cameron Bure suggested that the poll was “tricky,” as the Emancipation Proclamation question was buried in a line of queries about presidents taking executive actions. However, Behar would have none of it. “We fought a war over that. The North won the war. So what is this executive action?” Behar offered. “It was also a war to eliminate slavery. So these people don’t know what they’re talking about.” The war was not initially fought over slavery. The EP freed exactly 0 slaves, nor said anything about their postwar status. The 13th amendment didn't get by Congress until halfway through '64 and it wasn't ratified until after the war was over, and even that was at the barrel of a gun. Finally, first black Congressman in the south... House: December 12, 1870, South Carolina Senate: February 23, 1870, Mississippi First black Congressman anywhere close to the north... House: March 4, 1929, Illinois Senate: January 3, 196-motherfucking-7, Massachusetts Posted by GORDON on Feb. 26 2016,14:43
1. I don't think slavery should be a thing. That being said... 2. I know exactly what the EP was, and its intention, and its immediate lack of impact on slavery, and the fact that it did absolutely nothing, and depending on how the question was asked I am a literalist and even I may have stated "I didn't agree with it," or whatever. 3. And I am reminded of The Man Show when they got a bunch of women to sign a petition to "End Womens Suffrage," because the women didn't know what it was and wanted to seem intelligent. So this is just another bullshit propaganda piece to show the opposing side are just a bunch of subhuman monsters, and it wouldn't really be wrong to kill them, would it, before they can reinstitute slavery. That shit is what is wrong with this country. Posted by Malcolm on Feb. 29 2016,10:18

(Leisher @ Mar. 16 2016,10:29) QUOTE < Boehner endorses Paul Ryan for president. > Because why not. QUOTE In the same question-and-answer session here, Boehner referred to Ted Cruz as "lucifer." He previously called the Texas senator, who led the failed Republican effort to shut down the government over Obamacare, a “jackass.” Ryan and his staff say he doesn't want the nomination. Uh .... yeah. Posted by Malcolm on Mar. 16 2016,14:26

That seems like it could have been turned back on Trump with a single comment about "press events instead of policy discussions" if Gov. Kasich weren't a chump.

(GORDON @ Mar. 16 2016,21:47) QUOTE I wonder when was the last time a politician told the truth during a debate. If ever. I think a lot of them say some variation on "... and I want to be your next president." Posted by GORDON on Mar. 17 2016,05:46
My favorite little phrase is becoming variations of, "They don't mind if they accidentally display good leadership now and then, but that isn't the main reason they ran for office in the first place."

< Early reports indicate > any pachyderm would lose.QUOTE Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont leads Republican frontrunner Donald Trump, with 51.1 percent to 37.4 percent. In a Hillary Clinton versus Trump scenario, 47.7 percent report they would support the former U.S. Secretary of State, comfortably topping the 38.4 percent who said they would back Trump. I'd post scenarios for other Republicans, but since they've all been out-douchbagged beyond hope, it's not worth the copy-paste effort. Let's break out the modern standard of a presidential slam dunk: Ronald Reagan Electoral vote 525 States carried 49 Popular vote 54,455,472 Percentage 58.8% Walter Mondale Electoral vote 13 States carried 1 + DC Popular vote 37,577,352 Percentage 40.6% Posted by Alhazad on Mar. 25 2016,12:18
No worries. We can still get a Repub in the White House if we vote for Hillary. And that example is of how fucked up our electoral vote system is more than anything else. 18% more people agree with you than the next guy, is that really a staggering victory? If forty percent of the country doesn't want you in the office, it's not really a mandate to lead. Can't help but think that using, or at least publicizing, the popular numbers instead would actually help the two halves of the country realize that neither is going anywhere -- in some small measure. QUOTE 18% more people agree with you than the next guy, is that really a staggering victory? This is where everyone points out the founding fathers put that indirection in there on purpose. I can't say it's because they looked into a crystal ball and saw the rise of Donnie Dickslurper, but I like to think so. Hell, they've even made it so you can lose the popular vote and still get into office. Kind of puts into perspective what "by the people, of the people, and for the people" means. But that's the least retarded part of the election process I see before me today. Posted by Alhazad on Mar. 25 2016,13:01

Wtf-ever. Votes could be collected and transported even then. Course, back in the day, voting meant standing on your porch and shouting your choice.

Sanders makes stupid comments about GE, < fires back. >QUOTE "It's easy to make hollow campaign promises and take cheap shots in speeches...but U.S. companies have to deliver for their employees, customers and shareholders every day," Immelt said. QUOTE Immelt was responding to Sanders' claim that GE is "destroying the moral fabric" of America by shutting down American factories, shipping jobs to China and Mexico and minimizing its tax bill. "That is greed and that's selfishness. That is lack of respect for people of this country," the Democratic candidate recently told the New York Daily News editorial board. I really will be surprised if it's Trump. We'll have to see if he can get close to the 1237 delegates. If he's not close he won't be able to close the deal. Cruz has been running circles around him with grassroots organization and working the delegate process.Best comparison I saw was picture of Trump and Clinton and underneath pictures had Pro: Not Hillary. Con: Trump and vice versa for the other, Posted by Vince on Apr. 13 2016,16:22
On GE I will say that I fucking hate them as well. They lobbied hard for the banning of the incandescent light bulbs so that they could provide the higher cost mercury bulbs that they were already manufacturing in China, That was crony capitalism at its finest. I buy the more expensive LED bulbs to ensure I don't give GE money. They can eat a dick. Posted by TheCatt on Apr. 13 2016,16:26

So imgur is getting filled with lots of pro-Sanders shit like < him shaking hands with a black guy >. The comments are filled with how hip and in touch this makes him. How we should all vote for him because he shook hands with a black guy in a suave way. Ugh. As someone way, way down the comments noted, < this is probably a far, far more realistic representation of that Sanders handshake. > Posted by Vince on Apr. 16 2016,04:35
< Ted Cruz was on CNBC > for a full hour (commercials have been edited out) and he crushed it. Not sure that the general public is able to maintain interest in something long enough to watch it and process it, though.

Cruzing for an hour? I know I'd need to break that up with a couple shots.
