So I was reading an article in Money magazine last night about this family and their cars.

Specifically, it mentioned how the family was trying to find money in their budget to replace their "old cars," a 2009 Honda Pilot and 2008 Town + Country.

I don't know how other people live, but those are both newer than our cars.  We've got a 1999 Camry, and a 2006 Highlander.  About 138k and 85k miles, respectively.

Maybe they should go outside and shake some benjamins off the money tree in their back yard.  Perhaps they should also stop buying shitty American cars (T&C) that have double the problems and half quality of Japanese ones.

Yeah, that seems absurd to me, too.  My smart car is a 2008 model, and I still think of it as a "new" car.

I still think of my wife's 2006 as new.

Apparently I'm not fancy enough.

We have a 2005 and a 2008 and aren't considering replacing either at the moment.

2009 Nissan Versa. Have considered replacing it but only because the cheapest model is all they had left when I bought it and there's a minor factory defect in the ABS. Probably won't.

The funny thing about this family, they make $145k, but spend about $17.5k/year on their kids' soccer life.  Which doesn't include all the time of traveling to tournaments, etc.
