Forum: General Stuff Topic: Common Core and PARCC testing started by: GORDON Posted by GORDON on May 16 2015,18:56
I think the current discussion of this is buried in either the Republican or Obama threads.Anyway, Ohio just voted to eliminate the PARCC testing and, unfortunately, replace it. < http://www.kctv5.com/story....c-tests > To reiterate what I think I said elsewhere, in January a letter went home from the school saying PARCC testing was going to be happening soon, but it would not interfere with normal schoolwork... but what actually happened is that all normal schoolwork stopped for about 2 months and all they did was teach to the PARCC tests, because teacher evaluations and raises and shit depended on the scores, so the teachers' union told them to focus only on the test, and there were a bunch of bullshit punishment inflicted on the kids who didn't do well on practice tests, and there were very few assignments to make up their actual grades for the entire 3rd quarter, and about half of the 4th. If the recent local school levy hadn't passed they were going to cut all art/gym/music and tech classes, amongst a ton of other things, and my kid was going to the private school where he's already been accepted. But the levy passed, and PARCC is gone, so I guess we stick it out, for now. But anyway, PARCC is on its way to being dead in Ohio. Posted by Vince on May 17 2015,04:15
I hate that crap.

Well, he must be smarter than the Common Core. He remembered to blur his address, but not his 9 digit zip code. Dumb ass.

QUOTE Results from urban areas underscore stubbornly persistent economic ... achievement gaps. Education officials admit they're disappointed and a little surprised. What's going on? Well, sure. It's by no means universal, but there are some people who are poor because they are dumb. And there are some people who are rich because they are smart. But there's almost no one that is poor because they are smart or rich because they are dumb. So when you look at the big picture there's always going to be stubbornly persistent economic achievement gaps. Forever. Posted by GORDON on Apr. 04 2016,17:42
Hey!We said fuck it, our local school system has lost their way, and enrolled him in private school next year. The #2 (or 4? I forget) school in Ohio. 100% college admission rate, 70% get their first choice, yaddah yaddah. Also, as July I'm broke, so don't expect me to buy you anything. Why must you be so binary? As if straight and gay were the only options. Sheesh.

There have been studies where goats were raised by sheep and became sexually attracted to sheep instead because of it.Have you considered enrolling him in FFA? Posted by TheCatt on Apr. 05 2016,14:47

Private school sent us tickets for their musical and I am looking at the orchestra pit and the entire string section is Asian students.

From asian friends, it has something to do with discipline and a way to show that the family is wealthy enough to afford for it to happen. Posted by GORDON on Apr. 15 2016,18:16
About a quarter of the cast is Asian as well. My wife tells me that my son's class has a total of nine kids. This is insane

I think my fave character was the Asian girl playing the girlfriend of the orphanage bitch's brother.... the character is a trashy girl from New Jersey... so this actress was doing a Joisy accent over her Japanese (?) accent and waifu voice.

Was Lucy Liu when she guest starred trying to make meth in chem class. If that's not it, it's most likely Lauren Todd.
