I'm currently at the Hampton Inn in Rock Hill, which I can't help but call "Rock Ridge". Tomorrow morning it's off to Richburg, then back to Charlotte, and later flying home. This is my 6th or so trip down to SC in the last three months. I lived in Biloxi for a year. I been in most of Texas at various times for various things. Louisiana is very South (mostly in the back woods areas), with Nawlins and Baton Rouge being the only questionable areas. On the one hand there are plenty of locals that are very South, but there's a heck of a lot of yankees milling around in there, too.I'd rule that those who care more about "cajun cookin'" than they do about "Nawlins jazz" qualify as properly South.
