Privilege is how victims blame other people that aren't being as victimized for not being as victimized as they are. For example, "White Privilege" means you can drive your expensive car without being pulled over and harassed by shitty cops like minorities are, but rather than fix the system by getting rid of bad cops it's much easier to cry "White Privilege!"

I have also heard it as.... white people are privileged because they had all the chances in the world to go to school and improve themselves and succeed, while women and black people are just always shit upon and can never get ahead. I have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to character in games. All the strong main characters in the games I've played in recent years are usually women. Commander Shephard was a strong female lead character. My badass character in Skyrim is a woman. The lead in Tomb Raider was a strong woman. Those are the main character centered games I've played lately. I don't see a problem.

The biggest problem is we have no more frontiers. Historically when things got too stupid, the best and brightest would go out to whatever the colony or frontier was that was being pushed at that time. It would be many many years - sometimes even centuries - before the stupids all caught up with them.With no more frontiers there's no more self-selection and we're just basking in the stupid. You're looking at it the wrong way. When you have a very visible obstacle that we all face, we are all more likely to be interested in things about it. Thus, bullshit gets ignored no matter how loud the morons are that scream it.
Without that very visible obstacle, everyone is less focused and they hear the morons yelling, so they listen to what they have to say.
This is human nature 101. Idle hands and such.
Our society faces issues, big fucking issues, but they're not as apparent to the masses.

You're talking about a man or a small group of men making decisions when faced with an obstacle versus society as a whole throwing every fucking thing they can think of at a wall and even if it doesn't stick saying it did.
