You know, mostly I hate both sides, and the Democrats a little extra. Plus I hate the way Democrats say Republicans want to "wage a war on wymyn" or whatever. Because, no, they don't really. But the Republicans seem intent on stuffing both feet into their mouths here. QUOTE forcible rape Is there another kind? Posted by TheCatt on Aug. 21 2012,10:52
(TheCatt @ Aug. 21 2012,13:49) QUOTE QUOTE forcible rape Is there another kind? Apparently if victim is incapacitated or something... I dunno, hard to get clear terms here. Posted by thibodeaux on Aug. 21 2012,10:53
Well, I'm not real sure what that whole thing is about. Maybe he was alluding to false rape accusations. Which of course would alone be proof of woman-hatred, since a woman would never lie about something like that. Just ask the Durham DA.But regardless, it was a pretty dumb thing for the guy to say, and now the whole Republican party is running around like a bunch ants being pounded with a giant rubber mallet. There's pretty much two things that annoy me about this.QUOTE In an interview with KTVI-TV over the weekend, Akin had said that “the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down,” referring to pregnancy after so-called “legitimate rape.” Idiocy of that level should legally prohibit you from having any say in any law that has to do with biology. If you find the full quote, it's actually prefaced with, "From what I understand from doctors," ... which, obviously, is very little. QUOTE Barnes “echoed Mr. Akin’s statement that very few rapes resulted in pregnancy,” according to the Times, and she added that “at that point, if God has chosen to bless this person with a life, you don’t kill it.” I must've missed the part of the Bible where rape is equated with a blessing. QUOTE During an interview with Akin on Monday, Fox News host Mike Huckabee noted that “forcible rapes” had created some “extraordinary people.” Hey, exposure to toxic waste creates some pretty extraordinary people, too. So do landmines. The last two quotes are pathetic examples of people trying to exercise some kind of damage control, which wouldn't even be necessary if this weren't Posted by TheCatt on Aug. 21 2012,11:43
Babies are a blessing. Which was obviously the point of view of someone who's never taken a 20 month old on an airplane trip. Posted by thibodeaux on Aug. 29 2012,16:29
< I forgot about this >:QUOTE Hollywood has rallied behind Roman Polanski after his arrest in Switzerland over the weekend, with the actor Whoopi Goldberg suggesting that whatever he was guilty of it wasn't "rape-rape". As a guest on The View chatshow on US television, she said: "I know it wasn't rape-rape. It was something else but I don't believe it was rape-rape. Huh. How bout that.
