After high school I didn't want to acrue a bunch of debt with student loans, so I joined the military and invested in the G.I. Bill. After my honorable discharge four years later I attended a local community college and learned marketable skills, which I used to gain meaningful employment in the IT industry. I have no student loan debt, and I pay the bills to have a modest home for my wife and child, in a house with a mortgage that is not underwater. If 1% of the population are rich, and I am part of the 98% of people who are getting it done, then you "Occupy" people are the stupid, ignorant, short-sighted, lazy, whining, bottom 1% that the rest of us just barely tolerate. V. rough draft:I went to an affordable public university on partial scholarship. I worked 30/hours a week the last 2 years of college to help pay for my living expenses and build some savings. I then got a good job based on my academic performance and having meaningful work experience prior to graduation. I double-majored. Neither of my majors was Art or English. Since then, I earned money, paid my wife's way through grad school, then paid my own way through grad school. In the past few years, I've started my own company, and continued to educate myself and work hard. |
