< Not guilty/ >Not guilty of murder, manslaughter, or even child abuse.
Only guilty of lying to investigators. In other words, the jury completely bought the defense's story that Casey's death was an accident and she tried to cover it up.
I know if I accidentally killed my kid and then covered it up, I too would get a "Beautiful Life" tattoo within 30 days...

Considering most juries are made up of unemployed, uneducated people, yes.
I get letting her off on Murder 1, hell even the manslaughter charge, but to let her off on the neglect charge is pure insanity. The woman partied for 31 days while her child was "missing". Even if you think she didn't kill the kid, you have to admit that's bad parenting.
Prediction: Someone is going to get killed as a direct result of this verdict. I don't know if it will be Casey, a juror, or some other poor kid whose mom thinks now she can get away with it too, but someone will die because of this. I wouldn't be surprised by a suicide either. For example: her parents have to be in a living nightmare. And as for her, who the fuck wants her int heir life? What man wants to have a family with her? What company would hire her? She's going to sell her story, party, and then the reality of what she's done is going to crash down on her and either make her take her own life or turn her into a complete nutjob.

One of my wife's best friends is a defense attorney, and when the verdict was announced she posted how great it was because it proved the legal systems works. In the same breath she said "Oh, she totally did it". Ditto for all her lawyer friends who posted along with her comment. So yeah, an obviously guilty person being found innocent means the system works!
Again, I don't think they did prove enough to get Murder 1, but she should have been found guilty of child endangerment, which in turn, would have made her guilty of manslaughter.

The goal of the system isn't to find the guilty guilty and to acquit the innocent, it's to make sure the innocent aren't found guilty by mistake. Technically, it is working, which is the scariest shyte of all.
