I don't believe him as such, but I'm certainly open to the possibility that there have been UFOs.

"Some UFOs are intelligently controlled extraterrestrial spacecraft,"

Pretty sure the ones that are unintelligently controlled are the ones that let people see them.

Is the gov't holding back on shit that some wackos chalk up to aliens?  Sure.  Does that necessarily mean aliens did it?  Hell, no.

Let's look at this logically :
(i) aliens have visited us
(ii) aliens have not visited us

If it's (ii), I win already.  If it's (i), then these aliens must come from either :
(i) inside the solar system
(ii) outside the solar system

If it's (i), they've done a fantastic job of hiding from us via some means.  Even if they're in the solar system, crossing the distance from Earth to it's nearest neighbour is HUGE, requiring technology far in advance of our own.

If it's (ii), their technology is doubly impressive, although they might be far enough away not to have to worry about us finding them, they've got to cross even bigger distances.

Any way you put it, you've got to believe in a race sentient, extraterrestrial beings who technologically outclass us in every way.  Last I checked, even the primitive human autopilot technology could keep a flying craft on course with minimal difficulty.  I'm supposed to believe in some folks who've at least developed interplanetary travel, maybe even interstellar travel, but they've got this nasty tendency to crash when they reach their destination.  That's like running a perfect Indy 500 then crashing when coming to a stop in the pit after the race is over.

I'm pretty sure "Stargate" is all based on reality.

Sorry but while I believe there is life out there, that is just too big of a secret to keep quite.

Deep Throat couldn't even be kept a mystery once the guy realized he could make money. You telling me that all of the people who know are going to follow the company line?

Yeah, then there's that whole "vast conspiracy" thing.  Another nail in the coffin.  Shit, we can't even keep next generation cellphones from getting their prototypes leaked to the mass media.

Bottom line for me is that if aliens have the tech to come from outside of our solar system and visit us (or come from inside the solar system but are able to keep us from detecting their local presence) then they hold all the cards.  Compared to us their tech is magic.  We have no choice but to wait until such time as they decide to publicly let us know about them.

The idea that aliens with that sort of powerful technology could be victim to a governmental cover up is laughably absurd.

The most likely hypothesis at this point is that we have not been visited and everyone who believes otherwise is nuts.  And if they aren't nuts there's really no point in their trying to convince everyone else they are right until the aliens decide to chime in on the matter.

I have a far easier time believing in the existence of star-faring aliens than I do deities.

I hope next they will stop the coordinated Unicorn Denial policies of all EU nations.
