One of the strangest concepts for a movie ever.

Bruce Campbell stars as an old, broken down Elvis Prestley who now resides in a nursing home in East Texas. His miserable daily grind of wondering where his life went wrong suddenly becomes secondary as a mystery begins to form around dying old people and large insects.

Elvis begins to have visions and believes an ancient evil is involved, unfortunately the staff thinks he's nuts. He does find an ally though in his good friend, Jack Kennedy, fantastically played by Ossie Davis. There's only one problem, even Elvis thinks Jack is nuts since he believes he is J.F.K. despite being black.

Don't expect multi-million dollar effects here as the whole film's budget was $1 million. It should be noted though that with the exception of an insect, all the rest of the effects are well done.

The story was originally a short story that was expanded for this film. The acting is incredible throughout, especially Ossie and Bruce. The Elvis character is really the standout star of the film due to Bruce's portrayal and his narration of life as Elvis.

Bubba Ho-Tep is definately a dark comedy and isn't going to be for everyone. If you're a Bruce Campbell fan or even an Elvis fan (there's a lot of Elvis mythology) you should enjoy this film. Same goes for fans of indy movies.

For everyone else, its going to be more hit or miss. If you like well acted movies and can handle a film without a lot of action, then you might like this one. If you must have action or titties, then skip it.

A very original story supported by fantastic acting performances.

8 out of 10 stars.

Yup, I saw it last week, and I have to mostly agree.

For Bruce Campbell fans, or folks who like to see well-done films made with a small budget:  8 of 10 stars.

For everyone else who prefer the more normal Hollywood fare: 3 of 10 stars.

I myself liked it, but I'm a big Bruce Campbell fan.  (I met him once, good guy)

Went ahead and bought the DVD without seeing it.

Good stuff.  Wife didn't appreciate it, obviously.

I think this one's been reviewed before.  But this time, I'm doing it.

I liked it.  Alot.  Lot of stories going on in there.  Bruce does Elvis awesomely.  And I don't mean in a sexual way.  You could actually pull different parts of the plots out, and make complete, really good movies out of each one.  Bravo to the guy that came up with, and wrote that.  You should watch it.  It's a good one.

RIGHT after I posted it, I did a search for "Bubba" and only one link was returned.  So, you either moved mine REALLY quickly, or, even if I'd searched, it wouldn't matter cause it wouldn't have found it.  Or something.  Get off my nuts.

June 1 was when it was created?  Hasn't the board crashed since then?!
