Article

I'm already curious to see the films, however I find it interesting that Hollywood thinks these films will translate to profits here in the U.S. when you consider the following explanation as to why this film is popular in Russia:

Quote
"We had Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, the Harry Potters, and though these films were good, people felt that they were not about them, that they couldn't see themselves in these films.

"I knew that if there was a film about them, they would go and watch it... And now that people have tasted it, they want more."

So, wouldn't Americans be put off by this film since they won't be able to "see themselves in it"? Or maybe Russians just don't have the creativity and imagination of the average American?

I bet it gets remade, ala La Femme Nikita.

The U.S. film company will no doubt Americanize it by making it take place in Los Angeles, and by adding a giant spider.  You know, spiders are the deadliest predators in the animal kingdom.

Oh, and they'll probably make it so the vampires don't suck blood and don't have any special powers.  In fact, all the vampires will be played by Jack Black.

In the article, Hollywood is negotiating to remake the third installment. I'm not sure why they'd remake the final one and not the first two, unless they want to make sure the ending sucks ass.

Keep in mind the movie plot probably completely sucks... pun intended... Russian audiences are just eating it up because it's homegrown, and that's new.

The exact same movie may not work in America, even remade scene by scene and line by line.  Different mindset.
