The Expanse is a new SyFy original series that started in December. Â After three episodes I'm hooked. Â It's pretty good and has interesting potential. Â The sci-fi aspects are pretty solid (ignoring how they are handling free fall, of course, but shooting a whole series of people floating around would be too expensive so I'll let that go). Â The core story is shaping up to be a political thriller sort of thing with a lot of unknowns that are still to be figured out. Â There's the threat of interplanetary war on the horizon and there's only a handful of people bothering to wonder why and how to stop it.
Of course it could take a turn for the stupid at any moment, but so far it's solid. Â I recommend.

Watching the first one. Decent so far - lotta commercials on the back end. (online)

Ep 3 had the mormons too. Good shit - has anyone read the books?
I'll have to try hard not to finish the seven eps by this weekend.
e: Oh it's an ongoing series and there is another this Tuesday.

I am two episodes in.
My problem is that "political thriller" is almost my least favorite genre of movie, so I am just barely holding on.

Yes, because those are the only two genres of entertainment.

QUOTE (GORDON @ Jan. 22 2016,09:49)
QUOTE Yes, because those are the only two genres of entertainment. You said "least." Â That means you think everything and anything else is better than "political thriller." Actually, there are a single handful of chick flicks I kind of like. Â I still dislike the majority of them. Â But I'd still rather watch one of my handful than a political thriller. Â I don't need to be reminded that people are generally shitty and deceitful and usually get away with it.
