Synopsis: It was the mid '80s and some brilliant movie studio put their chips on a Tom Selleck/Gene Simmons vehicle that's very heavy on "special" effects.
Review: I think the screenwriter was exceptionally drunk one day with two novels in front of him. Â He was so wasted he couldn't remember which book he was reading for more than a few minutes at a time, "I, Robot" or "Bladerunner," and kept alternating every chapter or so. Â In a moment of clarity, he winces and remembers he's got a script that needs to be delivered to the VP of Shitty Films that People Try to Forget division. Â Five hours and twelve cocktails later, the first draft of Runaway was completed as the gods of good taste wept verily.
Tom plays a cop who polices the many robots of the future. Â Gene is the evil scientist reprogramming them to be hunter-killers and assassins. Â Cynthia Rhodes and Kirstie Alley are their respective pieces of ass. Â You can fill in the rest.
Verdict: Skip it.

I actually want to see this again soon so I can listen to the "How Did This Get Made" episode about it.
