I'm making this a general topic in case there's another mpa discussion at some point.
Anyway, I wanted to talk about Steel. My plan last night WILL work. I think we tipped our hat by having nobody appear in front of the grate before the round started.
If 8 scouts rush E, that's the equivalent of 16 players standing on a point. That makes the capture time, what? 3 seconds?
I've seen one scout do it, multiple scouts would just make it that much easier and quicker. Any team that doesn't prepare for this would have no chance of reacting in time.

My main problem with that plan is that I don't know the map very well yet, and had a hard time finding E. By the time I got there the first wave of Scouts was already there and dead.

You guys WERE pretty obnoxious with that one. But I only remember seeing three of you doing that, and we got you stopped. But JUST barely.
If there are no upgraded sentries in place it would work. If there are, then it's not very likely, as even if it doesn't kill them fast enough the rockets will knock them around enough to make it difficult to stay on point and not fall in the pit.

When in doubt play follow the leader. Â And everyone pause for a moment before entering E to make sure it's a big swarm, not trailed out in a line. Everyone went 2 different routes. I got frightened and confused and got lost.

Even though it failed, and even if it never works, the fact that it's a legit strategy on that map means at least one engie needs to stay behind and protect E. That means less defenses to break at A.
Besides, Steel is so new, that it's bound to work somewhere.

Okay, let me rephrase. When in doubt follow me or Leisher.
I don't know Steel well enough to think about where things are, but when I'm on a Scout run my fingers know where to take me. I'm actually quote good at moving quickly around a map, even ones I don't know very well. It's the shooting and whacking and killing bits I can't seem to get a grip on.
If I could have an Engie that runs as fast as a Scout, I'd never play another class besides that one.

Pray that a demoman doesn't get lost and find himself looking at the platform with all those frail little targets on it.

Even if an enemy is there, 8 scouts shooting him at once or clubbing him to death would make short work of him.
Remember, the key to all this is speed. Get in game tonight and kill 8 scouts as fast as you can. Let me know if you can do it in 5 seconds.

You don't have to kill them, just knock them off the platform. Â A couple of rockets or some demoman stickies would take care of them all.
But it is certainly worth trying.
Now that I think about it, I wonder if the defenders could have a good chance of bottling up the attackers at their spawn. The attackers spawn doesn't shift on that map at all. Could be worth a shot.

The FNF server frowns upon spawn camping.

See, that's a gray area.
A is so close to spawn that a sentry gun could literally cover both. So would that gun be spawn camping?
I was pondering a thread over on their forums about what their definition of spawn camping truly is because it could be a lot of things. Hell, one of the achievements is to defend Dustbowl without giving up a capture. How is that done without spawn camping?
