I dug through my box of older games and grabbed some gems to replay.
Duke Nukem 3D - Gordon recommended replaying this for the updated graphics mod. It looks good, but still looks, sounds, and plays like a late 90s shooter. What still makes this standout though is the innovative level and weapons designs. Most shooters still don't have weapons or levels as fun as the ones you'll find here. Works perfectly on XP Pro.
System Shock 2 - I really want to run through System Shock 2 again as it's one of the best shooters of all time. Unfortunately, I can't get it run on XP. I believe the core issue may have something to do with my video drivers. If anyone could WASTE enough time to recommend which codec package I should be using, it'd be appreciated.
Fallout & Fallout 2 - I have started them yet, but I've installed them to play over the summer. This is simply about getting hyped up for Fallout 3. (A task S.T.A.L.K.E.R. was also good for.)
Half-Life 2 & Episode 1 - I ripped through these again over the last few weeks. Even more fun than the first time I played through them. I think it's because I noticed more this time around. Plus, I was gearing up for the October release of Episode 2. I have more notes on that, but they'll go into another thread.
Homeworld & Homeworld 2 - Upon reading those words, Gordon just had an orgasm. If you've never played Homeworld (the original is better, but part 2 is no slouch.) go and get a copy right now. The storyline, atmosphere, gameplay, and fantastic visuals make this game a classic. P.S. I can't find my Homeworld:Cataclysm disk...Gordo, was Cataclysm worth it?

Cataclysm is very much worth it. More of an entirely new game than a mere expansion pack. New protagonists and antagonists, new ships, (slightly) upgraded graphics and interface.
I might be able to scare up a disk image if needs be. I don't remember if it required a key to play it... probably, right?
But now that I think about it, my cd is still packed away somewhere. So try somewhere else and ask me again as a last resort.

Well, I've beaten Half-Life 2, HL2:Ep1 and now Duke Nukem 3D. What classic shall I take on next?
(I've decided to make this list out of youtube videos. It's a good way to make you long time gamers nostalgic and a good intro for you not so long time gamers to see some classic games.)
I'm strongly pondering this, because I have the new episodes already downloaded via Steam. Plus, I'm not 100% sure I've ever gone through the whole game.
I remember playing some of this RPG and loving it until life interrupted and I lost my place. A few years later, I remembered that I still have to get through it and it was enjoyable enough to do so. This game would star Bruce Campbell if it were ever turned into a movie. This is one of those gems that did not get the audience it deserved.
Here's one I'm dying to play again, but I think it'll require a lot more of a commitment than the others. I remember it being difficult. I also remember it being one of the best games ever made in terms of immersion due to the good storyline and fantastic mood set by the music and visuals. I'd really like to try one of the mods too.
If I could get this one working on my system, I know I'd be playing it tonight. I love that cheesy PR intro. It starts you out in this vibrant world filled with hope and life...then you wake up on the Von Braun. This game is miles better than Doom III in every way, except graphics, which is to be expected.
This one is a must, but I'd need to play it before this one because the next part is right around the corner.
Of course, this adventure in classic gaming will be paused when Bioshock, Mass Effect, HL2:Ep2, or GTA IV hit.
