I was surfing the Best Buy site as I've got $115 in gift certificates to use and found some interesting items:
Bioshock hitting next month. From the people who brought you System Shock 2. I've been looking forward to this one.
Timeshift looks interesting. Think about the slow motion effects from Max Payne, except you can reverse time. An FPS where you can hit rewind because you died...might be cool.
Here's the most interesting one...I'll believe it when I see it.
For you people who want to make a stand and avoid the yearly EA fare, give this pro football alternative a try. These are the peeps who made Madden step up its game and why EA fought for the NFL player/team exclusive deal. They were afraid of this series. So, these guys went and created their own game without NFL teams and players and instead signed its legends. I'm thinking I might do some trade-ins tomorrow at EBGames and get a copy.

Mass Effect isn't too far away either. This being released pushes me closer to a 360, this an Too Human. The first games that I will actually need to play.
I never understood why EA felt threatened by the 2Ksports games. They went after a completely different market. Madden is for sims fans and the 2K games had more of an arcade feel to them. I would be interested to see how EA sales have changed since the NFL went exclusive. While it is still football it was two different audiences I wouldn't be shocked if games like Blitz got a bump since they are more arcadish.
Personally I never liked the 2K games(never really liked Madden either, NCAA much better) so if you are a big madden fan just be warned that 2K is a much different style of playing. Not bad just different. Where 2K fell short is the presentation. I can remember playing the NCAA 2K game and it was Michigan vs ohio state and the teams would be playing in florida gators stadium. Another time it was Michigan vs usc and they played the notre dame fight song. They game itself was good enough but the little things hurt.
I know there is the attack/defend EA thread right now so I don't want to start two but I wanted to point out that the NFL deal didn't go exclusive just because EA was scared of competition. The NFL, EA, and 2K have all said that it was the NFL that went looking for the exclusive deal so either EA or 2K had to grab it.

QUOTE Mass Effect isn't too far away either.
GTA IV and Mass Effect are the only 360 titles on the horizon that I know I'm going to get the day of their release. Add Dead Rising 2 to that list whenever it gets announced.

EA felt threatened because they were getting beat at their own game. NFL2K showed up on the scene, particularly with NFL2K1 and blew Madden's doors off. Everything about the game was better than Madden. If you remember, 2K1 hit right about the time that HD TVs were showing up in stores and many had demos of this game running because it was the closest video games had gotten to looking like an actual broadcast. Yes, the gameplay was less realistic, but more importantly it was fun. It wasn't beating Madden in sales, but it was beating Madden in critical acclaim and was starting to build it's own audience. Remember, 2K1 was on the Dreamcast and none of the other systems so sales of Madden wouldn't be affected much, if at all. Once it moved to the other systems, that changed things.
There should always be fear of a competitor, particularly one who came in and shook things up enough that it made you alter your games. (New graphics and features, some "copied" from 2K.)
QUOTE I know there is the attack/defend EA thread right now
There is no "attack EA" thread. This isn't a console fanboy site. There is a thread that takes EA's president to task for a stupid remark he made in comparison to the business decision EA has made over the years. Nobody here is "attacking" EA.

I have read on a couple different websites that O.J. is going to be in All-Pro Football 2K8 and that the team will be called The Assassins.
Unless your game is total shit why would you want to make up controversy for it? Is there going to be that much press from this to make up for you looking like jackoff?

All in all, sounds like on hell of a marketing move. O.J.'ll go cheap & his name is both famous & infamous.
