I've watched a few let's plays, it seems okay.  Mostly tension and jump scares.

I grabbed this and its first sequel for less than $5 during a Steam sale. I installed and played the first one this weekend.

The story is stupid. You're the nighttime security guard for what is essentially Chuck E Cheese. From 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. is your shift, and that's when the animatronics come alive. This is a known issue and people have died before you working this job. They're not murderers despite acting like psycho stalkers, but rather they think you're one of them who has been stripped of its outer shell. Thus, they try and stuff you back into one, which results in death. So why does a human being need to be in this building at night with no real ability to leave his/her security booth due to the danger in the building? Great question. It seems like the game is unnecessary as the animatronic animals are all the security the place needs.

So getting past that dumb shit, you move onto other dumb shit. Your booth has limited power that drains VERY quickly. Once your power is gone, you will die. The problem is that everything you do uses power. So keeping an eye on those animatronics via the security cameras is something you MUST do. On top of that, your booth has two doors, one on each side, that are always open. You can close them, but for some reason they use power when they're closed. Also, the hallways outside your office have lights, but they're off by default, and you can only light one of them at a time.

If you're thinking close both doors all night you would die. Why? It'd use all your power. Plus, the main baddie, Freddy, can apparently get into your room even with the doors closed.

I did some reading after playing and learned some things. First, each animal has a strategy and you need to learn them, although at night 5 they toss what you know and start doing new things. Second, audio is huge in this game. Third, there are 7 nights, so I don't get the title. Fourth, the game play is just all about knowing when to shut your doors. Fifth, this game apparently has a furrie following.

It's a creepy game, but I can see that wearing off REALLY fast. I read that later stages in this game and the entire sequel are less creepy because the pace is so fast.

If you want to get killed over and over while you try to figure out patterns, this game would be up your alley. Otherwise, I think it's safe to say you can skip it.

I think there's a good concept here, but the execution is lacking.
