Persistent (Online and Offline...this is important) world zombie game.
You play the role of several people all trying to stay alive during a zombie outbreak. There's a storyline to complete, but also a sandbox mode (a DLC just came out that greatly expands the sandbox).
You attempt to keep your survivors alive by finding them a fortified compound and then stocking it with food, medicine, ammo, construction material, and fuel. You can upgrade your compound, find more survivors to join, establish trading with other camps, etc.
You can even establish outposts to offer additional protection for your camp and survivors.
There are a few "special" zombies to watch out for: -The Juggernaut (A really fat guy and the one you don't want to face of all the special ones) -The Feral (think the jumpy one from L4D) -The Bloater (think the one that explodes from L4D) -Armored Zeds (Cops and Military zombies with helmets)
Cars and supplies run out so don't use them too quickly or run them into the ground.
Honestly, the game is a lot of fun, and is simply begging for multi. However, it could be more fun if they'd really flesh out more of their concepts.
Remember the non-graphic online zombie game we all played for a minute a few years back? This reminds me of that a lot, except this is obviously much prettier, and you actually do things rather than just read about it.
There is one game crippling bug that seems to hit a lot of people. The game will simply stop giving you storyline missions. I've been hit by it pretty late in the game. Because of the persistent world, my game isn't just "saved", thus why I keep getting on to stock my camp. If it doesn't stay stocked, people leave or die. Undead Labs is working on it. I know this for a fact because they've been using my save game to troubleshoot, and have been contacting me.
There's still a ton to do with all the side missions, but they get repetitive.
I'd call this a good buy once it hits $10 or lower. A must purchase for zombie fans.

First person view? Third person? Overhead? More resource management? More combat?

Third person. Combat and exploration leads to resource management. I will say that the instructions need work. Honestly, the game almost feels like it was in alpha stage. However, the way they've handled a lot of the zombie game issues is excellent. Within the first two hours I was thinking that this is what a zombie MMORPG should be like.
