No, I don't own it and have no plans to play it.  First one had a nice atmosphere (pun), but it just didn't blow my skirt up the way other games have.

Anyway, just wanted to say that the first Downloadable Content has been made available for the game, for $5.

Except you don't download it, it is already on the disk you bought, and the $5 is to get the unlock key.

Nice.

Their reason is that they didn't want to split the mulitplayers into separate groups so everyone has the info on their system so those who don't buy it can still see those that do running around with the new characters.

I just don't see why if it was already finished before release it isn't considered part of the game people paid $60 for.

With that said Bioshock is on my list of greatest games I have ever played and I will get 2 but I will just wait till a Game of the Year edition or Gold Edition comes out for $10-15 with all the DLC.

This reminded me of the "Papa Johns $2 delivery fee" discussion we had a while back.  Some peeps here didn't care about the new charge because they want cheaper pizza when they go pick it up.

It seems to me like that argument could be used here... "I don't want to multi, so I am glad I get the game for $60 instead of $65."

But I still think it is shitty.

This game fuckin rocks!

As long as you liked the first one.

More of the same without the huge story twist. Take place 10 years after the first one so the world has much more wear and tear but it still looks cool and is a fun place to run around in. I still loved the story, it just didn't have that moment like the first one did. It continues the idea of taking a political philosophy to the extreme. You also get much better endings although I have not played the good route yet.

The combat is much better this time around being able to dual wield both weapons and plasmids. Also since you play as a Big Daddy you have more powerful weapons like the rivet gun and the arm drill.

As I said at the top if you hated Bioshock you will hate part 2, if you didn't think you wasted your time after finishing the first one then you will feel the same, and if you thought the first one was one of the best games you ever played(despite the stupid boss battle) then you will be very happy with 2.

$5 on Steam today.

This game was really good. A lot like the first one, but with a much better story. The Bioshock world is so unique that it really helps your immersion. Bioshock was not a favorite of mine, I liked it, but it wasn't top ten. Bioshock 2 is top ten.

Highly recommended, especially at $5.

Started playing this today.  Played for about 4.5 hours.  Decided to be done.  To save, I have to have a Windows Live account.  So, I created one.  Tried to log in so I could save.  It said I needed to update.  So I did.  Then I had to save my game progress and shut it down to continue with the update.  Except, I can't save my game because I'm not logged in.  So, 4.5 hours lost because MS wants to monitor my game play.

I had the same experience, but wasn't that far into the game, so I let it slide.

Still Games for Windows Live sucks. I've had nothing but trouble with games that use it, and I get nothing out of it.

Double glad I skipped it.  I found the first one to be a slog.

That sucks. Although you shouldn't have had to create a new account. You would have had one with Fallout 3 and Dawn of War II. I don't think think the update would have been required then.

Won't have to deal with that crap much too much more. Live is pretty much dead on the PC.

I believe MS's unofficial slogan is "half-assing technology that other people master."  That company is quickly becoming the Buffalo Bills of IT.  Do they compete?  Sure.  Do they ever win?  Fuck no.

I didn't really create a new one.  When I put in my email address, it said I already had an account and I changed my password.  AND, I loaded Bioshock 2 immediately after finishing Fallout 3.  I don't remember Fallout 3 requiring Windows Live.  I even recently reinstalled Fallout after rebuilding my PC and then copied my old saved games over to pick up from where I left off.  My copy of Fallout 3 IS a WL game, but I don't remember ever doing anything with it.

I've got the Fallout 3 GotY edition, and while it's marked as "Games for Windows Live" I have never once been forced to have an internet connection to play, nor log into any account of any kind when a connection's available.

With the frustration of WL completely forgotten about until revisiting this thread for an update. . . I say this game is amazing.  One of the few games where I actually care about the characters in it.  I just finished Fallout 3.  Full of characters you spend a fair amount of time with.  Didn't care about any of them.  I tried to keep them alive/save them, only so they would help me through missions, etc.  Bioshock. . . I get attached to the characters and care what happens to them.  Fallout, I was looking for the end of the game just so it would be over and because I invested so much time, I wanted to see the ending.  Bioshock, I was playing to get to the end because I really wanted to know how it ended.  Bioshock games are at the top of my favorites.  HL a very close second.  Still wish I could play Ep 3.  Anyway.  Awesome game.  Looking forward to the next one.

All that being said, I probably could have played on a setting higher than normal.  By the end of the game, I was completely OP and had no problems dealing with the waves of enemies.  Was leaving health kits laying around because I was full and never used them.  I will admit that in the final fight, I did use a couple health kits and was running low on Eve.  But was in NO danger of failing the mission.  So, for the better FPS people, play on something higher than normal.  It was a short game due to the easy of moving through it.  I think the first one ended like that as well.  So, for the next one, I'm definitely going to playing a harder setting.
