Wants you to leave your guns at home.

I'm too tired today to state the argument or even think it through, but I think there's a point to be made in how liberals try to ignore laws (even ones based on Constitutionally guaranteed rights) that don't match their ideology, yet go out of their way to force enforcement on ones that do.

Meanwhile, Kroger believes the law is the law:
QUOTE
Watts and her team have most recently spent six figures on an ad blitz aiming to force the hand of Kroger, the country’s largest grocery store chain. As of press time, Kroger KR -1.14% maintained it would respect state and local laws on gun rights.

I don't doubt they'd cave if the public overwhelmingly disapproved of open carry, but at least they're now bowing to pressure from just one side.

In order for me to go to Panera less, I'd have to stop others.

I read that in Texas, where they just passed an open carry law, now almost every business has a "no guns on premises" sign on the door, which supersedes the law.... which means now that Texas has open carry, they are actually less at liberty to carry when out and about on bidness.

My first job was here @ 14. I still have the burns to prove it.

I have mixed feelings about them, I know most of the food comes off trucks from giant Midwestern warehouses, but I love the ham + cheese souffle and the sodium bomb that is the Asian Chicken Salad + French Onion soup combo.

What is this thread about again? I'm hungry

A biz can be insanely restrictive to the patrons it serves provided they have a good enough excuse rehearsed not based on ethnic or religious prejudice.  They've also got some solid precedent from the Old West when motherfuckers had to hand in their guns upon entrance to the town.

Private businesses can choose to restrict carry in their stores, but to do so they have to post two signs.  One sign is "no open carry" and the other separate sign is for "no concealed carry".  Most places I've been since that started Jan 1st have neither sign posted, but I have seen a couple of "no open carry" signs.  I've only seen both posted at some gas stations in the rougher parts of town.

I tend to stay away from places that don't allow at least concealed carry.  Don't like going into places that advertise themselves as targets for crazy people.

It's their business and their property, so I'm fine with them saying they don't want guns in their establishments. It's their decision. I prefer that to the government saying that they must allow open carrying of firearms.
There is zero chance they'll enforce it for concealed weapons so it wouldn't change my behavior.
Plus, I don't particularly want to see bikers, rednecks, hooligans, thugs, etc. open carrying where I'm eating anyway.

After the Marines, open carry doesn't bother me in the slightest.

Also Penera bread!  I ate there once.  Wasn't impressed.
