QUOTE Nearly Half Of Black Males, 40 Percent Of White Males Are Arrested By Age 23: Study
That seems insane, especially because QUOTE The arrests ... excluded traffic offenses.
I guess Malcolm's too old to call him a statistic... but still

No one is teaching kids any more that their actions have consequences?
At least their future employers/HR people will also probably have been arrested at some point.

I don't know if I believe those numbers as presented.
I'd like to see stupid shit removed like underage drinking or drunk driving (I'm betting those arrests are in there). Also, any arrests for non-violent protests like sit ins. Throw out all the marijuana related arrests except for distribution. Throw out all the arrests for guys taking a piss outside or girls who showed too much at Mardi Gras. Remove things like vandalism (I know people who have been arrested for TPing...). It's be impossible, but I wish they could also remove the ones arrested for assault that were in bar fights or fist fights where nobody was seriously injured. Etc.
Let's only keep the arrests that matter: Murder, rape, arson, burglary, etc.
Now what would the numbers look like?
I play golf, fantasy football, and poker with a group of guys about 30 large. Remove DUIs, and I don't believe any of them have been arrested. There have been run ins with the law, myself included, but arrested? No.
Although, let's say the numbers are completely accurate. Then this is a big hit to black people who claim the law is biased against them. If male crackers are at 40% and black males are at "nearly" 50%, then there's less than a 10% difference between the races. Meanwhile, white women are arrested at a higher rate than any other ethnic group. So the police profile black men and white woman?
Is it racist to point out that there is a pretty obvious culture among young black men that encourages behavior outside the law? Is it also racist to point out that white bitches be crazy?

I've found that teaching consequences is a lost art. People are just too stupid or self-absorbed or think their kids' shit don't stink to worry about teaching little Johnny that his spoiled attitude might get his ass kicked or locked up.

I bet the numbers are much further apart for convictions. Yeah, but my point still stands because the major complaint is about harassment by police. The police are nothing more than witnesses in court.

I've encountered the law many times, but never been arrested. Which is odd since I was a young black man.

I got possession of a malted beverage when I was 20 and 3/4ths. In the parking lot of a bar and right as my sophomore year was ending. It was bullshit.
I went back home and my parents were proud I was spending so much time of my summer at the library. I eventually told them I was doing community service, you know, when the time was right.

I, to date, have not been arrested, but I've had many conversations with officers and have been detained (at the location, not jail) once.

I've had about 7 conversations with officers than I can remember. 5 were basic traffic things (2 speeding tickets; 2 speeding but just got a warning; 1 sticker missing, but registration was valid). 1 was driving related... could have been pretty serious, but turned into nothing but him yelling at me. 1 was Malcolm-like, but more of it, and the guy just confiscated it. He did return our lighter though, so that was nice.
Response from Malcolm: So am I [curious as to wtf is going on]. Pissed beyond words for a week. Today just redoubled those feelings. Fucking magistrate. Apparently no cop in Iowa actually knows the law so we're getting a total 180 from what they said would be on a per hearing basis.

Never detained, never arrested, but questioned, and searched. That's all I have to say about that.

I got pulled over and my vehicle was searched once. Back when I had the ponytail. So I wasn't really surprised. Suspect it will happen again if I get pulled over with my beard. Though maybe not as I'm getting older.
Teenagers sometimes give me the senior discount in McD's and other fast food places already. Makes me wonder how old they think I am. Difference between men and women though. My wife laughs at me when it happens and I'm pretty pumped about getting a decent discount.
