What should happen is that a lot of people working at these banks should be going to prison. Â What they did amounts to organized crime, and they should be prosecuted by the various AGs in the same way they'd go after a mob family.
In actual practice nothing will happen. Â There will be a handful of lawsuits - most of which the banks will lose - but before it becomes a huge flood or a big class action Congress will pass some law to exempt them from liability and give them immunity from prosecution. Â
This will be one of the many grievances the American people mention when they hang all the politicians in 2032.

As it happened under Obama, though, 51% of the country will just give it a hand wave and say, "Just another phony scandal."

QUOTE In actual practice nothing will happen. Seconded. This is hardly the first time the banking/financial sector have proven themselves to be riddled with incompetence and greed, nor will it be the last.
QUOTE This will be one of the many grievances the American people mention when they hang all the politicians in 2032. Not a chance.

No, I'm saying the hangings, literal or in effigy, won't occur.

Any particular reason?

No, lots of reasons, most of which haven't happened yet.
Man, you think our Congress is bad? Wait until you see what they do in 2029. Hoo boy.

Man, you think our Congress is bad? Â Wait until you see what they do in 2029. Â Hoo boy. I simply must have access to this time machine you have. I'm not arguing they'll be worse, I'm arguing the public will care enough to do anything productive against them.

I often wonder what line will be crossed that causes the first shot fired, and the chain reaction which will follow.
We're pretty much overdue. Â The only thing that keeps the population docile is TV and air conditioning, as far as I can tell.
Perhaps government mismanagement of the power grid, brought about by "green" policies, which deprives the poor of their TV and AC.

Well, yeah. Remove the feeding trough and the cities are empty in about a week and raiding the countryside.
