"Black athletes were bred to be better"
White sportscaster says it, he gets fired.
Black athlete says it, and it's ok?

Well, there's very likely some truth to it, but reading that quote from Jimmy the Greek he sure could have phrased it better. Â Still, even if he said it nicely he'd have been fired because people these days are retards when it comes to reacting to race issues.

I imagine that, at least where success in sprinting is concerned, the selection pressures of slavery have less to do with it than just West African physiology in general. Take a look at this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10-second_barrier
Yes, most of these guys are probably descendants of slaves (I would assume anybody whose listed country is in the Western hemisphere). However, there are quite a few actual natives of West Africa, mostly from Nigeria. And if you click on the "outlier" countries, like Norway and Qatar...surprise, it's really an immigrant from West Africa!

Don't forget the rampant inter-tribal slavery all over Africa throughout most of it's history.

Plus, I am pretty sure when an American Negro says "slavery," he means the post-Columbian trans-Atlantic slave trade (i.e., "the Middle Passage") plus the New World plantation system of chattel slavery.
No doubt these things have affected the genome of the American Negro population. However, I suspect that they didn't produce the excellence in sprinting.

That could be an offshoot of trying to breed more hearty workers.
Evolution is slow, but breeding programs are not. When you take a relatively small population and breed for a specific trait, you can significantly strengthen it in just a few generations. While the influence of that history is no doubt tiny by this point in comparison to other factors, it doesn't mean it's not there.

Oh, no, I wouldn't go that far at all. If I implied that I was in complete agreement with what he said, I apologize. Just that there was probably some truth in there.

Sure. I think there's probably even been some Real Research on how American Negroes have diverged from African Negroes (a touchy area though I bet). How'd you like to write THAT grant proposal?

Actually, that would be Rocket Hub
Same basic concept, but geared towards intangibles like research and whatnot. Kickstarter requires a deliverable product by a certain date.
