QUOTE
Bierendy, a junior, painted a mural depicting the life of a man ending with the man being married and standing with his wife and child. School officials had the scene with the husband, wife, and child painted over stating that it may be offensive to students that do not come from the “traditional” family.

So, unless everybody does something, depicting it is offensive to those who don't do it? So...the only un-offensive depiction would be bodily functions, I guess.

On the other hand, it's a pretty hideous mural. Maybe this was just an excuse.

They should paint over the part where he's in cap and gown, because not every child will have the chance to go to college so that would be offensive to some.

They should paint over the part where's he's a student holding a textbook because some children live in areas that can't afford textbooks for the students, so that would be offensive to some.

They should paint over the part where he's holding a guitar, because that could be offensive to deaf people that can't hear music.

They should paint over the part where he's pointing at a beachball because some people don't have arms and can't point at beachballs and that would offend them.

They should paint over the part where he's a tiny child because some babies die, and that part would be offensive to the parents of dead babies.

None of these are any more absurd than the actual story I just read.
