No idea if this was discussed elsewhere, but I got signed up for a three month trial. I received the October, November, and December crates.
This is the ideal product for a nerd with disposable income who likes treasures.
Every month they receive a themed box full of chachkies. And that's really the secret here. It's just random trinkets, collectibles, comics, and a t-shirt that people didn't buy in stores or that are leftover from promotions.
Sometimes there are some kickass items like October's box which came with one of Max Brooks' books. The majority of items are stuff that you'll think are sorta cool and then never touch again.
The most valuable item in every box is the t-shirt, which is usually not something you'd wear everywhere. I also don't remember telling them my shirt size, so...
Other items I've received include: stickers, a Joker/Batman toy (coolest thing in three months outside of the book), some promotional buttons, a coin for something I don't even remember, a Mega Man helmet and stand that promptly snapped in half, a few comics, etc.
Oh, and each box is a play set. Because their demographic is also the Happy Meal demographic?
One thing of note is the "Mega Crate". Each month they send out 1 or 2 of these and they contain amazing loot. No joke here. One month's was an X-Box One, a PS4, a MASSIVE Simpsons lego house, an actual Batarang with a Batman glove pedestal, and some other cool things.
Here's the thing about those though: I assume they're completely random, but I can't find anything about how they're awarded. Just vague statements. For all I know they're given to employees of Loot Crate or their friends/family. In December, which was the Mega Crate I described above, my normal crate came with a catalog (they each have one monthly...it's basically a batch of ads) that stated on the cover: "Inside: How to win this month's Mega Crate". I read through that whole thing 5 times and there were no instructions on how to get that month's crate, which again, I thought was random...
On a different note, their claims about the items within being worth more than what you're paying for it might be correct, but that would be based on what their value would be if people paid for them, and let's be honest, they're in the box because people aren't paying for them.
Overall, it's just not worth the money unless you're a hoarder.

I googled it for the correct spelling and this is the first thing that came up. I just saw "trinkets and collectables" and went with it.
