After watching parts of several games the way to characterize players by race is

Athletic = Black
Scrappy = White

the first I have been aware of forever but the second really seems to have exploded as of late.

Interesting tournament so far. My bracket was killed on day 1, but has been pretty steady since.

Every team in the East got fucked. Tough, tough bracket. The last #2 I wanted in OSU's bracket was North Carolina. No way is North Carolina the worst #2, which is who the overall #1 should have in their bracket. Kentucky a #4? Horrible rankings.

This VCU story is pretty cool. From the bubble to the First Four to knocking off Georgetown (although they were overrated all year) to knocking off a good Purdue team (although without Hummell, their best player and without their #3 scorer) to playing a 10 seed in the Sweet 16. Of course, Kansas would be waiting after that, so I expect reality will catch them if they get by Florida State's fantastic defense.

Mine got killed last night.  I picked Notre Dame to lose in the finals.  At least they lost to an ACC team.

UNC is almost the worst #2 seed.  People talk about the amazing run they had at the end, but that was against a pretty weak conference.  Yes, they're good, and yes, they can beat anyone in the nation on a good night, but they're 1 year away from being amazing. (If SDSU hadn't been gifted a #2, I would have said UNC is the worst #2).

The Big East is certainly looking over-rated so far, and have already had a 1, 2, 3, and 4 seed lose.  ACC's looking pretty good.

Parity's looking pretty good too.  Compare the NCAA Men's tourney to the Women's after the first weekend. Hell, compare the women's to the men's Sweet sixteen.

4 double-digit seeds left in the men's tourney (Sweet 16)... 3 double-digit seeds left in the women's tourney (Round of 32).

I still think OSU is the team to beat, looks like them or Kansas.  Even with Irving coming back, Duke is looking rough (And when the hell did Michigan learn to play again?)

Florida is the worst #2 team. I realize this argument might seem silly considering Notre Dame is out and they were a #2, but I think they would beat Florida. Ditto for San Diego State and UNC.

Although, I have seen where some expert thinks OSU and Florida are going to play in the finals, which is cool with me. We blew them out in Florida earlier this year.

Only the MSM thinks the Big East is a conference filled with power houses. Yes, there are some damn good teams there, but the top of the conference is usually overrated. That means when a lower team from the conference beats them, they get more hype than they should.

I agree that there is zero parity in women's BB. I heard about a guy who makes a living betting on nothing but women's BB. He says it's like taking candy from a baby. You know who is good and who is bad, and usually the favorite wins. Plus, Vegas can't set the spread high enough or they'd cut their own throats.

Michigan is going to be a scary team next year. They've been getting better as the season went on.

I hope OSU pulls it off this year. They will have earned it with this draw. Next year they're going to be good, but they won't be the same without Lighty, Diebler, and Lauderdale.

QUOTE
There isn’t much doubt about which BCS conference has had the best NCAA Tournament — or the worst.

Best — ACC. Worst — Big East.

Truth.

That makes me happy.

QUOTE
ACC — 7-1, .875. Two wins against higher seeded teams, both by Florida State.

Big Ten, 7-5, .583. One win against higher seeded team (Illinois), one loss against lower seeded team (Purdue)

SEC, 4-3, .571, One loss to higher seed (Vanderbilt).

Pac-10, 4-3, .571, One win against higher seed (Arizona).

Big East, 9-9, .500, two wins against higher seeds (Marquette), five losses to lower seeds (Syracuse, Louisville, Notre Dame, Georgetown, St. John’s)

Big 12, 4-4, .500, two losses against lower seeds (Texas, Texas A&M).

From here (with more details)

I bet you're hoping you don't see that first-half-UNC again in two days.
