She died.  Some of my Facebook friends (mostly liberals) put up some status about that.  One of the comments to one of those statuses was:

Big loss for NC

And I just thought, "REALLY?"

I don't get it.  Yes, it's sad when (almost) anybody dies.  But why is she important?  Sure, she's a tragic figure, but how is her loss "big?"

Maybe I'm just a cad.

John, as in John Edwards?  So this is his wife?

Was she important in any way beyond being the wife of John Edwards?  I've never heard of her except in that context.

While she was dying with cancer, the National Enquirer or something found out he was fucking some other woman.  That's pretty much it.  Oh, and she wrote (or had someone else write for her) a book, I think.

This reminds me of the Chris Rock routine where he talks about how people were calling Hillary Clinton a hero when it was revealed Bill cheated on her...

I was gonna post here that I thought she was basically a mafia wife, so I googled that:

I like what I see so far.

Okay.  So how is her dying a big loss if all she's done is get cancer and marry an adulterer?  That describes a lot of women, I would presume.

I just don't get it.
